Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

My vehicle was traveling at speed of 35-40mph. At that time I was struck from rear by another vehicle. Crash crushed the trunk of my vehicle up to back window. Seat belt did fine. Just no air bag deployment.

The following codes are active; P0463 fuel level sensor a circuit high input, B0561 ABS $43 sys disabled and C0561 sys disabled issues. The fuel gauge was fluctuating, but has now stopped working. The service engine soon light came on and will not reset to off. The service seat belt warning message came on. The problems were intermittent prior to 50,000 miles, but now, just after 50,000 miles nothing resets. I have found that this is a common problem and the repairs are very expensive, yet nothing has been done to convince GM to recall and make repairs. We own a 2006 Malibu with 35,000 miles on it. Now, I'm worried that it is going to have the same problem as our 2007 Malibu. And, who wants to face those repair bills!

The air bags have quit working. The problem seams to be the same as the earlier recall of the Cadillac in which the problem started with the passengers side front air bag light going off and back on.

Have had problems with the fuel sensor, thought it was fuel level sensor but apparently from all others reports these are several problems with the fuel system. This causes the check engine light to come on and will not allow the remote start to work. Also have problems with sensor in passenger seat. Just works randomly. Very concerned this will interfere with air bag deployment. All of these things were fixed while still under warranty but started doing it again after it expired and too costly to fix on my own.

The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised her that the intermediate steering shaft would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

My 4 year old son was in the vehicle with me helping to clean out the car when he was able to put the car into drive without any keys or anything. Luckily, I was in the car and was able to get the car back into park but only after it hit a fence and damaged the vehicle because of this issue. I am able to put the vehicle into drive while the car was not running and there were no keys in it. There have also been several instances where I was able to leave it in drive after turning the car off and taking the keys out. It will also allow you to put the vehicle into drive without pressing the brake first. There have been several computer related issues that have also began to happen such as the gas gauge not working properly. It says that I am on empty when in fact the tank is full. The air bag indicator switches back and forth from on to off so I never know if my air bag is actually on or off. All of these issues occur on a daily basis. No repairs have been made to the vehicle.

I recently leased a 2007 Malibu. The passenger side airbag does not work when a cushion is placed on it to give my wife the height so she can see. Apparently the sensors are set to a heavy weight, so if there are small people such as children in the front passenger seat the airbag safety system will not activate if they sit on a cushion. I spoke to GM customer service people in detroit, and they said they had never heard of this. It seems to me that in designing a safety system, consideration should be given to smaller and lighter people, or have a fix available so the system works.
