Fuel line is cracked and leaking, it is part of the fuel pump assembly. Their are recalls regaurding similar issues on various models the same year. This vehicle should be under recall as well. I am the tech working on this vehicle and this is the second one I have seen within a year. It leaks fuel from the top of the fuel tank down the back and on the exhaust pipe. Very dangerous safety situation. I will keep the old part just in case you would like it.

Purchased a used 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Very shortly after I could notice a strong odor of gas coming from the rear of the vehicle after driving it. I took it to a mechanic who removed the fuel tank and discovered that a plastic feed line on top of the fuel pump module had a severe leak. I contacted GM in regard to the fact that this specific issue has been recalled on the exact same year, make, and model as my vehicle. I was told that my VIN was not included in the recall was offered no additional resolution or support. My concern is that the only vehicles covered under the warranty were those bought and sold or registered in "warm weather" states, but Kentucky has 100 degrees very humid summers. It's is considered part of the South, a region known for being very hot in the summer. Additionally the driver side door lock actuator and rear passenger door lock actuator do not work under power. The only work manually.

Car leaking fuel from fuel tank. Just notice gas smell for about a year now. Kept getting worse, then check engine came on around December 2015, about a fuel pressure sensor. Finally looked under the car and fuel is coming out of the top of the fuel tank. Actually see fuel leaking from the tank, and dirt stains were fuel has been leaking

Upon entering the back passenger side seat of my daughter's car, I noticed a strong fuel smell. Upon returning to the car, I noticed the strong fuel smell outside the car, too. When we started looking around under the car, we saw fuel leaking onto the parking lot. The car has 68,000 miles. The independent garage she took it to said the plastic part of the fuel line was leaking and replaced the fuel line assembly and fuel pump. A $740 repair for a young woman in her first job after graduating from college. We also own a Chevy cobalt, which GM has issued a recall in warm weather states for this very issue. I called GM and a vice president told me this wouldn't be a covered repair. I shudder to think what would have happened if a cigarette had been thrown down by her car. She did take a picture, which I will get to upload.

My gas tank started leaking for no reason (no wear and tear-every mechanic said that is almost unheard of), my power windows and lock stopped working 2 years after purchase and was told that I had to pay almost $300 to fix each motor for the door locks and windows, the service airbag light has been on for more than a year, my ac also have issues; the sensor and thermostat has been changed 6 times within the last 4 years. I am sick of all of these issues and have no assistance with it. No matter how many times I called the local dealerships here, coincidentally, my warranty was up on every issue I faced. GM has really taken a lot of money out of my pockets. I was informed of the power steering issue and was told my vehicle would be in the shop for 1 day, which turned into 5 days, and I was denied to be reimbursed for the rental fees, which were almost $600. Someone needs to do something about these issues, because my car is extremely unsafe for myself and 3 children. The windows will not go up or down at times, whether the vehicle is parked or not. The ac is the same issue, the parts will go out whether I am driving it or not. The gas leak issue is awful, because the car wreaks of gas, and my car burns gas whether it is powered on or not. The door locks have not worked since the end of 2010 and we have to manually lock and unlock. The issues with my car are there 24/7, and happens if the car is in motion or not. Although, the issues I have been having have been going on for a while, except the gas leak issue which is recently, I have no choice but put the start as today's present date, because each issue started at different times and continue to cause issues, even after many attempts to repair with some issues.

While driving on a crowded freeway the car started to slow down on its own. I figured I was out of gas so I checked the gauge and it was at 1/2 tank. The message said service ESC, engine power reduced. There was no place to safely pull over so I had to continue to the next exit at the reduced speed. Needless to say this was very frightening as traffic was trying to pass me. I could have been rear ended but luckily nothing bad happened. I found a place to stop, shut off the engine and waited 5 minutes. I restarted the car and it ran normal as if nothing happened. The check engine light was still on. I reset the code ( something about a tps) when I got home. This scenario has happened several more times even at city speeds (35 mph). I don't drive on the freeway anymore and have to take alternate routes that are safer to pull over when this happens. I think I should sell the car but I cant in good conscience pass this on to someone else like GM did to me. Really guys this should be investigated asap so that no one gets hurt or killed !

Noticed gas smell for a couple of weeks and progressively got worse. Took vehicle to Chevy dealer and they immediately noticed the smell of gasoline. They found that the vehicle was leaking fuel from the fuel module hose. They stated that the entire fuel module had to be replaced at a cost of $868.35 which was not covered under warranty or manufacturer recalls even though there have been recent issues with the fuel modules on many GM modules including Chevrolet in areas that have extremely hot summers like the san joaquin valley in California where I live. The mechanics stated that we were fortunate that the vehicle did not catch fire and I don't understand that such a thing could not be related to a defective product. The Chevy cobalt 2007-2009 models and equinox 2007 model had the similar issue. Thank you.

Just bought this vehicle used from the dealer. The keypad didn't work, so we tried locking it by the switch on the door... still didn't work. 3 of the doors will lock when the car is put in drive. 3 (most of the time) will unlock when the car is manually unlocked in the driver door by the key. One of the doors only works by manually pushing down or pulling up on the lock no matter what. To get in the car when the doors decide not to unlock, I have to either have one kid climb in to unlock them or roll the back windows down so they can reach in to unlock them. This is a safety issue. I have two kids that could be trapped in the car if we were to have an accident and the doors will not unlock by the button or keypad. For the car to be this new, it should not have this issue. The car also has something wrong with the fuel sensor. On highways (continuous driving) you can watch the gas measurement slowly go down. An example, a 1 hour and 40 minute trip leaving on a full tank took the gas down to below half a tank. But when the vehicle is stopped or back in the city, the gas level will rise back up toright below or right above 3\4 tank. It was below a half tank on the highway and when we filled up before leaving back out it only took $10 to get it back on full. Also another issue that should not be occurring in a newer vehicle.

Turn signal isn't operating correctly, it no longer cuts off automatically, three of my four door latches aren't working--don't respond to key fob (the one that works), have to lock all three doors manually. Check engine light comes on after filling up car and has been on for about 7 months with no one at the dealership knowing why. Also have a problem with water settling in my car every time it rains. Key fobs both went out also but only one is now working at 75%. all of these problems have been going on since I first got the car with the dealership either pretending as if I did it or that they do not have enough staff to correct the problem. I know this was only done because I am a female and the car was under warranty. I am so disappointed!!! I bought this car brand new with only 100 miles on it and it seems as if GM wants their dealerships to do this. I know so many people with the same problems from the same parent manufacturer (Tahoe, enclave, Impala, Malibu) this car seems to have a lot of minor/major problems that all rear their ugly heads at various times of ownership..thinking about getting rid of it even though it was my dream car and almost paid for!!!! GM needs to get on the ball!!!

Chevrolet Malibu ltz 3.6L, as you drive down the street at any speed the traction control light comes on check engine light comes on and the display say check traction press ESC I have had it checked at the Chevy dealership where I purchased the car and the tech said the engine misfired that it was probably due to bad gas or a particle in the gas but it has happened about ten times with gas from several places and all grades regular to premium and know the check engine light has come on and am know taking the car back to the dealer to have them scan the car again I have had the car a little over a month, if the dealer decides it is no longer there problem I will report this problem and hassle I have gone through to GM management and will return the car back to the dealer or owner of dealership for a refund.
