The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. While the vehicle was idling, the steering wheel was unable to be moved and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The dealer (pellegrino Chevrolet, 1000 gateway blvd, westville, NJ) informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,800. Contact states all power locks and sway bar failed and tire pressure button is always on and blank.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving about 5 mph, the power steering failed without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection and it was repaired. The contact was advised that the steering column needed to be replaced and the torque and steering sensor had to be recalibrated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76000...updated 12-26-13 the consumer stated while turning out of a driveway, onto a busy street a message appeared on the dashboard that read power steering. It took two men to push the vehicle out of the middle of the road.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the power steering warning light illuminated and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The vehicle was able to be driven to the dealer where the steering module was replaced. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired twice under a manufacturer's recall for the steering column. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 59,854. Updated 04/17/13 the consumer stated on three separate occasions, the power steering light illuminated and the steering went completely out. On one occasion, she was unable to back out of a parking space. She had to turn the vehicle off and back on, in order for the steering to resume normal operation. Updated 04/18/13

2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Consumer writes in regards to problems with steering shaking uncontrollably. The consumer stated after extensive research, she was confident that her vehicle had coverage for a steering motor replacement, along with many other Chevy models. Unfortunately, when she contacted the dealer, she was informed her VIN was not covered under their current policy.

TL-the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph the steering wheel exhibited a jerking motion. The vehicle began to pull to the right direction. The vehicle was driven to the side of the road. The engine was turned off and restarted. The vehicle resumed to normal. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the electrical power steering and front wheel bearings were replaced. The identical failures occurred five months after the prior service repair was performed. The vehicle had not been repaired art the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was unknown.
