Automatic light dimmer behaves sporadically, especially in cold weather and bright sunlight.

It is absolutely terrifying when the dash lights go out on a busy major interchange after dark. Unwarranted equipment failure is a contributing factor to delayed reaction time. This seems to be occurring in these models in a concerted fashion as they have passed a threshold of time rather than mileage, or fair wear and tear.

Yes I also noticed this same problem. But I really did not bother me enough to have it fixed.

I'm am getting tired of paying for a car that chevy machnics can not fix. The dash lights are changing on their own and, For the past 4 months my car has had to get put in the shop. Now to come and find out, I'm not the only chevy malibu ltz 2009 customer to have a list of these malfuctions. How does chevy plan on makeing it right. I have had to go one to two weeks at a time without a car. My family has been chevy owners I know ever since I was a baby, we have been loyal to the name and now I think chevy needs to be loyal to us and address thses problems and fix them.

Malibu 2LT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,000 miles

The dash lights in my 2009 Malibu 2LT V6 will dim and or brighten sporadically for no reason. When driving to work or anywhere the dash lights are dim then after about 10 -20 minutes they will brighten. The Opposite also happens for no reason. Also depressing the Info button on the steering wheel, to see gas mileage or tire pressure etc, does not seem to change the display on occasion as it should. Very annoyed about this and taking it to the dealer to fix. It also seems the car has a difficult time deciding or stays in a low gear when trying to accelerate from about 40MPH. It seems as though it can't find the right gear and one needs to press further on the gas pedal. All of this from a car of the year by some comparisons, should have gotten the Infiniti G35 or a Lexus
