Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Driving into a parking lot to park and the traction light came on and the ESC light comes on and the power steering goes out. This really should be included with the other car recalls that have this same issue. It is an identical issue. Come GM stand behind your products!!!

ESC and traction control would not engage. It stated it needed servicing an dash info center. Took car to dealer and first they could not find the problem. After 4 hours they call and said the front wheel hub had to be replaced. Code # C0040, right front hub was dropping signal.. this was done at a cost of $636.70 to me. A car with 16,000 miles, don't think this should happen. Just received a recall notice on this car from GM, so far I have not been notified of any fix for this recall./ recall # 13036. I feel GM owes me some money for this repair.

My wife was driving and the "service ESC / service traction" came on, on my 2009 Chevy Malibu. There was a slight roughness on the engine. We took it to the dealer and they said they could not find any problem withthe vehicle and we paid the diagnostic fee. It has appeared several times after that but not often. I called Chevrolet about it and they said that there is no recall on my vehicle. I saw a recall ( recall id 103629) on electronic stability control for 2009 Chevy Malibu but they said my vehicle was not included on the recall list. My main concern is the safety of my family and my wife. I have read several concerns of people who own this vehicles and what happened with them.

Power steering motor failure warning light appeared on dash, traction control disabled warning appears. Happens very often at startup, making steering difficult and disabling traction control. Has occurred while driving, causing difficult steering. If vehicle is turned off and restarted, works properly approx. 50% of the time.

I own a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. When driving at various speeds, the service traction, service ESC and ESC off warning lamps illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician advised that the body control module was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 67,000 plus. When my foot is on the brake the brake lights go off. Upon taking foot off the brake the brake lights stay on.

While slowing down while attempting to come to a stop the warning system came on to service the stability control and traction control. This seemed to reset when ignition turns off but comes back at any time. Took it to a mechanic shop and after several attempts a code came up and they replaced the brake positioning switch. This worked for 3 months when again the warning notice came on. Took it back to the shop and they replaced the switch again figuring it may be defective. That worked for only 3 weeks when it came on again. Also while this warning notice comes on the cars brake lights stay on but go off each time the brakes pedal is applied and comes back on a few seconds after my foot is off the brake so from the rear of the car it looks like I am stopping when I am actually moving and looks like I am going while actually stopping. So far my shop can not find the cause. They say it keeps coming up with the same code.

Hello, my car's service traction and service ESC light turns on intermittently. The brake lights behave in the opposite way, I.e. they stay on during normal driving, turn off when I press on the brake pedal, and turn back on when I release the brake. The cruise control does not work whenever this happens. I do not experience anything different while driving and I believe this is a sensor/circuitry issue. I read through the forums and news websites and found that this is a common problem in a lot of Chevy vehicles. There is a tsb on this issue and recalls for a few cars. This is a serious issue as it might lead to accidents when someone driving behind my car sees that the brake light turns off when I press the brake pedal. I would like GM/Chevrolet lo help me out here and fix this issue without making me pay for it but they have not responded positively. The dealership charges $110 just for doing simple diagnostics. But this issue is something pretty common to a lot of Chevrolet cars and is not a wear related issue. GM or Chevrolet should take responsibility to fix the issue. My car is out of 3-year warranty but is still within 5-year warranty (bumper-to-bumper). I hope that an action will be taken and my car will be repaired and/or I will be reimbursed for the repair expense. I found many articles on this issue and a few of them are copied below. www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/12/GM-recall-feds-midsize-Chevrolet-Malibu-Saturn-aura_N_2862354.html www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/archive/index.php/T-2942.html www.autoweek.com/article/20130313/carnews/130319942 [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
