Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal smoke odor. The contact stated that the heated seat element burned a hole into the seat fabric and the back of the contact's sweater. The contact was not injured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the module and the driver seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 30 mph, the rear of the driver side seat became extremely hot without warning. The contact turned off the heated seats. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that a hole was burned through the seat back. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed that the elements in the seat were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
