Anyone who's coolant gauge works's now and then or has their cooling fans running more than needed, change the coolant temp. sensor (drivers side of engine, front, under/behind exhaust tube) and at least in my case, solved the problem. Advance Auto has the best sensor for the money!

Monte Carlo LS 3.4L 3400 V6

The cooling fans started running constantly after I did the coolant flush but I kinda am kicking myself for it cause you don't replace one without doing the other... In order to fix the problem, I changed the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor and presto it worked! Both are located next to each other.
