Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Monte Carlo SS 3.8L

Intake gasket is leaking engine coolant on top of motor. Will cost me $800 to get fixed. This has been happening with many 2001 and 2005 Monte Carlos. Just don't overheat it or the coolant will mix with the oil and then the damage is warranty! no nothing! Out of pocket cash when I get it from working two jobs......GM sucks. No recalls on this either!!

Update from Jun 11, 2012: Yes,this is an on going issue with all 3.8 engines and several others 3.0's??? Mine has 87,000 miles and was told by a trained mechanic it needs repaired asap and no money to do it because of the high cost of labor....5-6 hours , just the gasket, it is $89 it self not to mention labor, oil, antifreeze and hoping nothing else wrong with the motor. You would think GM would have a recall on this engine.Nope not them......
