Randomly about ten times a year my truck will turn over and act like it's starting up ... but as soon as it gets to that point something else will shut down the fuel or electrical and kill the start up procedure. I also noticed that the dashboard gauges jump around from time to time and the anti theft can come on for absolutely no reason

I've done a few of the normal repairs like change fuel filter, pump, etc. This did not help.

Now I'm considering that either a ground wire is either intermittently touching ground or not touching its ground and causing this issue to happen. I've had similar issues in the past with other cars and found that if I ran enough new ground wires jumping around the car one of them would replace the loose connection cable and make it obsolete and intern fix the problem

And GMC / Chevy people don't know why people don't want to buy their cars??? Ha Ha!

Eventually I'll sell this lemon and buy a truck from Japan

We have the same problem with 2003 Chevy 1500 pickup, intermittent starting problems as many owners of these trucks do. The dealers tell us they have never heard of this problem (yea, right) and can't diagnose unless truck is not starting when you bring it to the dealer. The problem with this is by the time it's towed to the dealer its starting again.

I think it's in the anti theft but have no proof of this. Truck will start fine most of the time and then you turn the key on and nothing, We have had some luck just waiting a few minutes before attempting to start again, If that doesn't work we will jump start it, if that doesn't work we turn on and off lights, blinkers, stereo put truck in neutral back to park just to try to jolt what ever the problem is. On rare occasion we can't get it to start at all.

I realize what I'm writing here is already written all over the internet by frustrated owners of these trucks, Chevy should do something about this problem, until then I will not buy another Chevy.

I purchased this vehicle from a dealer on March 1, 2014. On March 10 is when all the problems started, I only had the truck 8 days. One morning I was going to work and the truck would not start up and there was only dash lights, head lights, and radio, but no ignition. I had it towed to dealer and was told it had a bad ignition switch and dead cell in battery.

Picked it up on Saturday and Tuesday had same problem, won't start, towed back in, no idea what is wrong, then said it was the harness had a short. Pick it back up and it ran 1 week and problem is back, won't start, they told me to hit the starter still nothing. Towed back in and they sent it to a Chev. dealership and they said it was a bad alternator and harness. A week and half later pick it up. It ran for 1 week and was driving home from work and was traveling 60mph on the high way when the the anti-thief light pops on an the truck shuts off, came really close in getting hit. Now they have the truck and still don't know what is wrong. I am paying the note on a truck I don't have.

While driving ac will cut off, truck drops down to 1st gear and stays there, abs, parking, airbag, alarm lights turn on and stay on. Once truck is turned off it will not restart right away. Have checked starter relay, cleaned wire connections, battery is good.sometimes when you hit the relay fuse box it will start.

I have had a series of electrical problems with this truck;

1. AC would only work intermittently

2. The radio would turn on, change stations, etc. but no sound!

3. The keyless entry works intermittently

4. The blower works on high only, and last but not least

5. Every once in a while (maybe twice a week) I turn the key and nothing happens. I shut if off and wait about 1 minute and then it starts. Several years ago I took in to a shop and they told me that the battery was no good and the low voltage would cause problems with the computer. So after replacing the battery and rebooting the computer everything was fine for about 2 years and then "things" starting happening again. So, now I reboot the system myself and it seems to cure the ills for several months.

Intermittent starting problems are a bitch! I've taking this piece of crap to the shop for this stupid starting problem and never a result. I've been towed numerous times. Stranded atleast fifteen times. I really just want to fix this problem. I dont understand that nobody knows the solution.

Silverado 2500 HD 6.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

I bought mine new in Dec 2002. It started with intermittent "NO start" problems along with a host of other electrical problems around 16,000 miles. Once I thought I fixed the problem while beating on the steering column, however it turned out to just be a coincidence, as I had also rolled the truck down hill into the sunlight (heating from sun increased cab temperature). The problem usually only occurs during winter months when temps drop quickly with high humidity. Vehicle has been to the dealer in excess of 15 times. It has been towed 4 times, twice from remote locations, immediately following a cold front with heavy precipitation and temps below 30 degrees. I've been stranded 3 times while traveling out of state for ~ 3 days each time. To date the dealer has only duplicated the failure condition ("NO START") on one occasion and they immediately pulled it into the garage. Dealerships always have the vehicle towed into a nice warm garage and it usually starts after it is unloaded from the tow truck.

I've personnaly bought and replaced the starting relay twice (easily accessible under the hood), no fix! I've met one other person with this problem and he simply got rid of the truck after a side impact that basically totaled the vehicle. Chevrolet's outstanding technicians (more than 10) have offered no help and they seem cluless about the concept of duplicating failures which are obviously associated with outside environmental temperatures. When I recommended they remove parts for troubleshooting and place them in a freezer they asked me why I would do something like that!

Silverado 1500 4.8L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

My silverado has left me stranded numerous times with this intermittent starting bullsh!t. The truck starts majority of the time however sometimes I go to start the engine and nothing!! All electrical comes on but no start. I really hate this truck because it has given me so many problems amazingly right after the warranty was up not even after month. The power steering has gone out twice. My gauge assembly is all out of whack. My AC just went out on me and its hot as hell on Guam. I've taken the truck in to numerous shops and they all tell me the same thing "the truck seems to be fine". There was even an incident that the truck wouldnt start for hours, called a tow truck, as soon as the towing company hooked up the truck the damn thing starts and I am out $60 for towing a truck starts when it wants to. I am sick of this piece a crap! All I want is a car that will start on my terms and not when ever it wants to. Please if anyone knows my fix, let me know. Oh yeah and DONT BUY CHEVY!!!
