Silverado SL 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Intermittently slips into 3rd gear, not always though. First technician replaced an ignition switch that deals with shifting and that didn't work. Second technician replaced the filter, noted no metal shavings, and will be replacing a slightly leaking line in a couple dasy. GM dealer claims no recalls or familiarity with this problem, but encourages me to bring it in.

I've taken real good care of this truck and never abused it, so I'm not sure why I can't get 225,000 miles on the tranny like the last GM truck I owned. Looking for advice!

Silverado 1500 Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 57,000 miles

It's hard to believe that a truck with 57,000 miles , driven as easy as you can would lose a transmission, Transmission was pulled "repaired" and put back in, workers took it on a test drive and it would not make it back to the shop, now they say the transmission pump is out, someone please explain it to me isn't that something that would have been checked, Pressures on pump, ect.. Truck has never been abused , driven hard or pulled thing heavy. thanks for letting me vent...anyone had same problem?
