It is like the other two guys said...the lifters are rattling bad at 49,000...what a HUGE disappointment. The used car dealer is repairing it but I have lost confidence and I feel like they ripped me a new one. I bought the truck used and had it 10 days and I started it one morning and the damn thing was rattling so bad, I thought the motor was falling out...my step-dad said it was lifters...the used car place still has it in the shop....I have not even made the first payment and it is already in the shop...I FEEL SICK!

Silverado LS 4.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Bought this truck about 5 months ago with 33k on it. Wonderful during test drive. It was hard because I have purchased nothing but Ford up until now. 1st heating and air went out $500, then transmission clanks very loudly from 2nd to 3rd and back, sounds horrible, like the thing is going to fall out, or leave me stranded. GM says, well that's normal. Can,t afford to make it better than GM' s normal. Then engine starts burning oil, half quart in 3000 miles.GM says, that's normal. Then engine starts tapping and knocking at start up, GM says, that's normal.

I have never driven a vehicle with this low of quality. Please do not buy GM.

Silverado LT 6.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,200 miles

I bought the crew cab 2500 ( gas ) and noticed a knock occurring in the engine, sounds like a rod going bad, or possibly a rocker arm. I paid close attention to this because I had a 2003 silverado that did the same thing. The dealer told me they could not hear it, this is a bunch of garbage, it was very noticeable and I went there to listen with them, funny I could hear it. I have been a GM owner forever and have family that works in GM dealerships, it is a definite know especially when it's cold. I tried changing type of oil and additives but nothing seems to work. I now have more miles on the engine and am starting to notice a drop in power. Has anyone experienced this problem??
