Truck began to idle rough and would jerk during taking off and stopping. Check engine light began flashing and stabilitrak light came on. Took it to a mechanic who reported fuel buildup. I was told that the pistons were broken as well. My truck has 88,000 miles on it and GM refuses to fix it even though there are service bulletins pertaining to the engine misfire from fuel buildup because the truck is greater than 5 years old.

Radiator failure due to cycling of the thermostat. This is a design problem. It is not just a common parts failure. GM issued service bulletin, pi1513F in recognition of the failures seen in 2014, 2015 & 2016 model year vehicles. The extended warranty that GM announced in January of 2019 does nothing for many of the owners of these vehicles.

Silverado 1500 8-cyl

  • 111,761 miles
Traveling at approximately 60 mph, on a busy city street, I heard and felt a loud bump that sounded almost like I was hit from behind and the check engine light illuminated. After the initial bump, I tried to accelerate but the truck just made a winding noise like it could not shift gears. The truck finally shifted but, would not change out of first gear. Luckily I was not hit from behind. I just happened to take a less traveled way home that day. If I had taken my normal route, which is the highway, I guarantee this could have cause an accident and possibility mine or someone else's life. The truck has had hard shifts since I purchased it certified preowned, which I see is a very common complaint. After having the truck checked by a mechanic, metal shavings were found in the transmission fluid, which will result in the transmission having to be replaced. All maintenance forthe transmission was up to date prior to thus happening.

Code P06dd came on while driving home from work 10 miles away. We reset and truck was driving fine. On 10 degree day, truck displayed low oil pressure shut off vehicle while driving one mile away from work. Checked oil and topped off, tried to start vehicle, heard a noise and truck started ticking noise. Replaced spark plugs and oil pressure switch and still ticking. Forums stated it could be that or the oil pump. Looking at putting in a new oil pump but wondering if this is part of the previous recall.

problem #104

Silverado 1500

  • 65,000 miles
The transmission began shifting oddly and more sudden than normal and was not getting enough power unless the accelerator was pressed really hard. While my car was under warranty (<60,000 miles), the dealership, lafferty Chevy, indicated the shifting was a result of an adaptive transmission that learns my driving habits and it was normal. Now, the problem is worse 6 months later, and the car is out of power-train warranty (65K miles), and they inspected it further and have told me the transmission needs to be fully replaced. The transmission and power train made it very safe to drive these past few months and GM knows this is an issue and the dealer said nothing about this until the problem got much worse and is now out of warranty.

This truck is on its 3rd transmission. Both failed the exact same way. The torque converter overheated due to the V8 to V4 mode and warped the transmission. The first transmission swap was under warranty. The second swap was not. Which I had to pay $4800 to replace. My mechanic told me this is a known issue with this model and they had to upgrade the transmissions. The second transmission that went in did not lat but 50K miles. Ridiculous. I do not drive my truck aggressively, nor is there any reason the trans should have failed twice with the exact scenario. It had increased rpms on the engine but truck did not move. When speed would slow down it felt like I was driving on rumble strips and I was on a back country road. I should be compensated for the second trans swap. GM knew about this issue but never put a recall out. I am not a satisfied customer.

While driving the truck started making a weird noise and then would almost feel like U ran over rumble strips. Within a couple weeks the truck will now no longer switch gears. There are shavings in tranny fluid. Almost had an accident because the truck just wouldn't shift or go while on the interstate. Chevy has put faulty torque converters in these trucks and they need to be held responsible for fixing this problem. There are thousands of other people that have the same exact thing happen to them. Failure was at only 120,000 miles and our truck is very well taken care of, maintenance done, and was never ever drove hard.
