Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

  • 10,000 miles

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Upon traveling a low rate of speed or under 40 mph, there was a sudden loss of power. The vehicle hesitated numerous times and stalled. There was an internal short, which caused the instrument panel gauges and lights to flicker. The vehicle shut off and back on randomly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than twice, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

I started having problems with the electrical in the truck starting with the windows. I informed dealership and that the stabilitrak was going off saying that the steering was failing. The problem has continued to present and now the truck is shutting itself off while going down the road losing all steering and turning itself back on. My family was in the truck and we almost rolled into a parking structure, I lost all power and steering to truck had no control at all. The truck continues to have issues and this after I took it in to have it fixed. Dealer made problem worse.

Since day one I noticed that the voice commands were not acknowledging proper voice commands. I took it to the dealer 2/20/14 they said it was my takes me a good solid 3-5 minutes to get a phone call out because of the voice recognition doesn't work. I would also notice that on pandora it would say acquiring net work service. Then from that, onto it saying network error.that happens no matter what every time I try to use it I have to turn blue tooth off and turn it back on and then connect it all over again. Sometimes I can hear people and they cant here me. On 4/08/14 again I took it in the dealer for the bluetooth problem. My front headlamps get moisture in them when I wash my truck on. 3/13/14 they replaced my left headlamp, still the moisture happens.when turning on the truck from park and engaging on drive a loud clunk and a tough movement makes the truck feel like its swinging from N to S. again I took it to the dealer 2/20/14 and they said nothing was wrong. January of 2014 - April 2014 there were 20 times that my truck went into the service department 4 times for recalls thats 24 times in 4 months for a new truck I got in an accident on 4/20/2014 and 50 parts were put into the truck to repair it. It took the dealer selman 3 months before I had to call and ask what was going on with my truck everyone seems to be clueless. On top of all that I had to denied the truck 8 times because of wrong parts that were put on. They changed my whole front end. The lights turn on when they want, it sound like lose parts in side the dash.the truck shakes on freeway going 40-60mph I have that on video. I feel unsafe driving the truck. I feel that I am being discriminated at selman since they treat me different. I want someone to help me look into this truck it is unsafe for my family and wanted a buy back but they said no I should be able to get that option.

This was happening in cooler weather. I have a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. When starting the vehicle, the ignition key would stick in the start position and then return to the run position. This has happened probably half a dozen times. I see that there is a recall on older models, but apparently some newer ones, such as mine should be included.

The vehicle ignition turned off while driving (vehicle in motion) causing the power steering to fail. This has happened three times in the past 3 weeks. GM does not list this model as part of its recall and when I contacted GM they recommended taking it to a dealer and having it repaired at my expense.

  • 1,400 miles

While driving in 4WD 'auto', off pavement in waterfront area, I did not think 4WD was engaging. When I shifted to 4H, the seat immediately clam shelled in and down on me. I reset seat, and noticed mirrors also had moved. A few minutes latter I tried the same maneuver while moving <5 mph, with the same results. I drove the 20+ miles back home in 4auto, but ready for a surprise shift into 4WD, with the accompanying, dangerous seat position change. It occurred 1 more time, while driving slowly approaching my driveway. I tried to duplicated it a few more times during a 2 week period; no occurrences. The sales people told me to use 4auto as my regualr mode. I decided to try 2H. Now when I go from 2H to 4auto, the seat moves backward in short jolts. Going to 4H or 4L, as directed in the manual, a clam shell effect occurs. I have done it with others in my truck, so they can witness the seat try to devour me. The last time it happened, I left it in the driveway with the seat & mirrors in their final position, so others could get in and see if they thought they could drive in that position. I have not set the set memory, and was very careful to not touch anything but the 4WD control while changing drive modes. As an aside, I noticed others owners had complaints about the seats. My 'safety alert' seat, 'heated and cooled (perforated)', 'front full feature', 'leather appointed buckets' developed a small tear in the lower, middle portion of the seat. I wanted it replaced, and of course, the friendly dealership staff tried to say this was 'normal wear and tear'. this was at less than 500 miles, 350 of which the dealership put on while driving it from another dealer. This truck is used for pleasure only, not work, no tool pouches or in pockets... if it wasn't such a bad example of how customers are treated by some dealerships, it would be laughable. Current millage: 1,711 mi.

Vehicle vibrates at highway speed. GM acknowledges that this/there is an engineering issue with this vehicle and that there is no recommended fix. Having said that, they advise the vehicle is performing "as designed." Because the vehicle is poorly designed and poorly engineered, then poor performance is expected. The dealership will not attempt repairs, so I'm stuck with the vehicle S is. The problem is, and you know this, there are many, many complaints of this issue, and neither you nor the manufacturer will do anything about it. Worse, they (Chevrolet) continues to sell these trucks knowing there are problems. Worse yet, this information is not being disclose to new buyers under the veil of "performing as designed." Lastly, note that since there are no attempts to repair there may not be a trigger for the lemon law filing ("... at least three attempts..). remember, the ignition switch was a non- issue to you and GM until somebody died.

We purchased this 2014 Chevy Silverado crew cab in January of 2014 it was driven by the general manager of the local Chevy dealership it had approximately 3500 miles on it, the issues started as soon we got it home 1)the alarm went off while sitting in our drive way (no one around it daylight) 2)the head lights went out while driving it at night 3)the speaker would crackle when you open the doors 4)the doors would not unlock when vehicle was put in park 5) noise from the transmission but the dealership called it normal 6)transmission would shift with a thud sometimes dealership said transmission had to learn our driving habits 7)horn would start off strong then die to a muffle 8)film on the inside of the windshield and the smell of coolant inside the vehicle but the dealership says it can't duplicate the problem but can see the film on the windshield 8)4 wheel drive was making a rumbling noise the bearing has to be shipped from GM because the part is not available yet 9 )the heated seats quit heating 10) the doors could not be unlocked from inside the vehicle I had to use the remote entry to get in the person inside the vehicle could not get the doors to unlock 11)the turn signals quit working the sockets had to be replaced 12) I am sure I forgot something but this is the list of issues that I could remember. We have contacted GM directly but they are pretty much worthless at this point no one has died yet that I know of and until then GM will not take ownership of these issues [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The drivers side front tire alerted it was low on air. Stopped and checked air pressure but it was ok. I returned home and the next morning the drivers side rear tire was flat. Swapped the tire with the spare and took it to the dealer. The air pressure display on the truck is reversed. The indicator for the front tire is showing the rear tire. The rear tire is showing the pressure for the front tire. They are fixing it now, not sure of the trouble yet.

Was towing a trailer, stopped and filled up with gas. As leaving the gas station, dash lights dimmed and brightened on their own, then washer pump started squirting fluid without wiper blades moving. Washer pump continued squirting till the reservoir was empty and burned the pump. Afterwards, all interior lights stopped working, except for the dash lights. Also, lost all parking, head lamps, turn signal and brake lights on the 2014 Silverado 1500, except for high mount stop lamp, which was stuck on bright, as if brake pedal was depressed. Upon reading owners manual, there is a reference to loosing lights under "electrical overload". all electronics being used was factory installed, other than the trailer that was being pulled. Upon taking it to the dealership for repair, they could not determine what caused the issue. They replaced a body control module. One week after getting the truck back from the dealership, the dash lights have dimmed and brightened on their own again, therefore, I am afraid to hook my trailer back up in fear of loosing all my lights again, or worse, driving and all of the sudden, washer pump starts squirting fluid and getting into an accident. After talking to GM directly, they cannot provide an answer to what happened or why they would reference the "loosing lights under electrical overload" in the owners manual, because of a known defect or issue that would hinder their profits.

I own a 2014 Chevy Z71 that had a sherrod lift package installed at there factory and I have brought it into the dealer for excessive tire wear and the second time it was in the dealer discovered that all 4 brake lines were about to burst due to excessive wear and incorrect installation of the lift. My concern is there are alot of these trucks on the market and had I drove it another week it would have been fatal for me or someone I hit due to brake failure. I feel this issue needs to addressed due to the severity of the issue. The dealer deadlined my vehicle due to a major safety factor and contacted sherrod. As of yet I have not heard from sherrod about the repair. Its the thousands of other drivers of these vehicles I am concerned about. If the one I owned was done incorrectly but to specs according to sherrod than in 7000 miles if mine were within days of bursting than so are theres. I have pictures of the lines if someone needs them. Something has to be done or lives will and are at steak.

1.average gas mileage between 10 to 12mpg on freeway which is nowhere near what was shown on the sticker. not working/locks up, constant system errors, and display screen going black or green at random. 3.mylink system not working correctly, won't take voice commands & shows error messages on screen. The computer will completely lock up & become unresponsive until restart. 4.navigation system screen turns solid grey & locks up at random. 5.backup camera is coming on & the screen then turns black while at freeway speeds in drive, shows error messages. 6.lane departure system not working/detecting driver's side lines on road when crossed. 7.driver and passenger's front seats feel loose at mounting brackets while driving (rocks back and forth). 8.heated/cooled seats not cooling. 9.transmission not shifting correctly, misses gears on acceleration; constant slips & clunks┐Ł from powertrain while at road speed. 10.transmission/torque converter won't disengage from engine properly when braking & pushes the truck under engine power, to a stop at random times. The ECM/tcm is having communication errors or problems causing hazardous conditions to present themselves at random unpredictable intervals to drivers. 11.engine misses/stalls when making sharp turns at random: Fails to accelerate when merging into oncoming freeway traffic or turning out of parking lots. Again, the ECM/tcm is having some sort of software communication error which is causing hazardous conditions to present themselves at random unpredictable intervals to drivers. Freeway merging with oncoming traffic or out of a parking lot into oncoming traffic without the ability to accelerate the vehicle is an extremely hazardous condition not only to the passengers of the unresponsive vehicle but to the passengers/drivers in the oncoming traffic. -truck just bought back by GM at our loss.

My 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500, ltz, Z71 started to have numerous issues since this past April. The truck has been in the unethical landers mcclarty Chevrolet in huntsville, Alabama seven times with only the smallest of the issues being fixed. 1st issue was the driver side seat moved when turning left or right. The dealer's service department informed me there was no fix and that the seat was within manufactures specs. The seat moved to the point that the ventilated seat cooler plug disconnected. The service dept eventually "fixed" the seat and reconnected the plug. Lastly the issue I cannot get resolved through GM corporate, dealer service department or the regional GM manager. My truck "shakes" from speeds of 65 mph and greater. The service dept first told me I needed an alignment and have the tire rotated and balanced. The shake still continued, so I complained again to the service dept. This time I was told that two tires where "bad" do to road force and replaced them. The truck still shakes like a stripper so I emailed the CEO of GM on 11 July and assigned an executive liaison to work the issue. Since then my truck has been in the service department twice. Each time I was called a liar indirectly by the service department manager "[xxx]" and the district manager "[xxx]" after they test drove the truck and couldn't replicate the complaint. I had the service dept foreman "[xxx]" ride along with me as I drove the truck and pointed out the "very" noticeable shake at high way speeds. After numerous phone calls to the service dept, GM corporate, I found out that the service dept can utilize a vibration analyzer on the truck. This has not taken place or even considered. I continue to drive the truck with the shaking becoming worse with each mile. Just like the ignition switch problem, GM down plays the issue and lets the problem compound. The forward collision alert system is not safe. I have had this go off on me over 100 times in 25,000 miles and almost causing an accident a few times. The led on the dash will flash and the seat will vibrate causing you to react thinking you are getting ready to hit something. This occurs in 3 situations: 1) approaching an underpass while the sun is shining into the windshield, which is daily for me during my commute. 2) in a lane on the highway closest to the barrier wall, it thinks you are going to hit it head on I guess. 3) on a 2 lane side road with approaching cars are the are passing by on your drivers side. I have not been able to detect if this is due to the sunshine or head lights. So this causes a major alert reaction to you each time, this is a big safety issue as a reaction to nothing but alerts can cause an accident in itself.
