Used the remote start feature to warm up my truck (automatically turns on rear defrost). Upon entering the vehicle I could smell smoke. While driving I turned around and noticed smoke pouring from rear window. I turned off the rear defrost and the window exploded! I contacted the dealer and they claimed the recall had already been completed and they could not assist me.

Was on my way to work the morning of 11/11/23, the rear window defroster was on. I saw in the rear-view mirror smoke at the rear window. The smoke only lasted a few seconds. About 10 seconds after the smoke stopped there was a loud bang inside the truck. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw that the right-side glass in the slider had shattered. The old window is still in the vehicle. I am in the process of getting a new power sliding window and getting the money together to have it replaced. I have not taken the tuck to a Chevrolet dealer to have them inspect it. I found an article that there is a recall for the rear window defroster in Canada, recall # N192220470.

My 2015 Silverado was started up remotely to warm up during an icy day. The truck had already been driven a few hours earlier. When I stepped in the truck I heard sizzling. About a minute later I smelled and saw smoke from the passenger rear seat area. I turned the truck off, but when stepping back in after investigating and moving it from the road the passenger side rear window broke. No warning was given for this to happen.

The A/C is known to be defective in a 2015 Chevy Silverado and mine went out on 03/28/2021. I bought my truck new and maintenanced it well and is garage kept. There is no reason for this failure. This is a safety issue for the windows can fog up in adverse weather and hinder visibility. Chevrolet needs to own up to a baddly designed system.

Burning smell in the vehicle and all of a sudden the rear window shattered. The vehicle was in motion at the time. There is a known fault with the defroster mechanism that results in a malfunction that causes the window to shatter. Same make model and year are recalled in Canada but not the us.

I used my remote start, from the key fob, while I went inside the store. I came out of the store and had heavy smoke coming from the rear windows and defroster area. It smelled of a car fire. I immediately got into the truck and turned it off. I noticed the smoke dissipated and I started the truck to get home. The defroster was left off and I then started to drive out of the parking lot. Not even 30seconds later the window that had smoke coming from shattered. It is in my line of sight.

The lights will also dim almost to off while turning the steering wheel while stationary, also power steering will quick momentarily while doing this also. What do you suggest I do?
