Light comes on which reads "check passenger air bag". this light comes on when vehicle is started and then remains illuminated until the engine is shut off. Various dealerships and vehicle repair shops have indicated that parts for the air bags are faulty and need to be replaced. These same repair locations have indicated that the air bags will not activate in case of a accident.

I hit another vehicle in the side, it was traveling approx. 55 mph. I was pulling into a walmart and crossing 2 lanes of traffic. Upon impact I pushed the other vehicle off the road from her inside lane. The airbag on my vehicle never deployed. I was told by the repair shop that the impact wasn't hard enough to cause the airbag to deploy. That is why I never reported the accident until now. Just recently the airbag light came on and when I took it to the dealer they said it needed a new front bumper impact sensor for $549. I had contacted GM about and they said since there was over 100,000 mi. They could not do anything. I have since learned there have been myriad complaints on this vehicle for the same thing. It seems to me that there are ample enough complaints for the nhtsb to order a recall. I plan on doing the repair myself. The part costs $90.

SRS warning came on. Had fault code. Called Chevy dealer and they said I would need a new airbag. I researched and found that GM does know about this and even put out a tsb. It is a connector to the airbag itself located in the left kick panel. The fix is to clean the connector or replace it. No new airbag is needed but it did reoccur about a year later. Recleaned and ok again. This is a safety item and should be a recall. Since GM knew it I must assume that NHTSA knew it also. I can see where a lot of people would not fix this and just drive like this since a lot of technicians think you need a new airbag when it is in fact poor wiring by GM.

For no apparent reason, the air bag warning lights on vehicle came on when starting the vehicle. Vehicle has not been involved in any accident. Vehicle was taken in for repair and repair shop said the front sensors for no apparent reason had gone defective disabling the air bags on vehicle. Sensors had to be replaced and I was told parts were only available from a Chevrolet dealership. After repair I checked online and found numerous other owners of Chevrolet vehicles have experienced the same problem. I am concerned with the safety issue of disabled air bags when this part goes defective for no reason.

Service air bag warning light has been on since 2007, when vehicle was still under warranty. Has been to bob grimm Chevrolet in morton, il for this same problem approx 9 times. I no longer live in the vicinity of this dealer, and wouldn't want them working on it again since they have been unable to repair multiple times. Written communication to GM all the way up to CEO has not resolved this issue. Jack schmitt Chevrolet in O'fallon, il did a diagnostic and reported the air bag in my vehicle is used. Nobody has ever worked on the truck regarding the air bag except bob grimm Chevrolet. My understanding is when this light is on, the air bag will not deploy, endangering my life.

As I was driving the "service air bag" warning appeared in the information center of the dash and the air bag light started to blink. There was no reason for the warning light. I re-set the information center and the warning reappeared. Very disappointing as there are only 64,537 miles on the vehicle. I checked on the internet to see if there was a recall for this problem for my vehicle, as the miles are very low on my vehicle. Of course there was none for my vehicle. It appears this is a common problem with GM vehicles and an extra expense to the owners. I'm very disappointed at this point. I could not locate any recalls for my vehicle VIN, but there were other recalls involving the air bags with other GM vehicles. I'm lost for words.

Service airbag light came on. Took it to dealer said impact sensor was bad and airbags would not work if in a frontend crash. Truck has only 73000 miles on it. Cost $350 to $400 to fix. Dealer said they had a lot of this problem. Why have there been a recall.

One day after sitting in a parking lot the "check air bag" message came on with air bag light. The past winter had been particularly wet and cold for Ohio. After research online, I found that the front driver side air bag sensor was deformed and causing the problem. Apparently the design can allow water into the sensor, but not drain out. Hence, the water froze inside the sensor, expanded and damaged the sensor, rendering the air bag system inoperable. Part number 15103522. Further research revealed that the part has been replaced by another part number - 10370149. Unsure if this new part corrects the lack of drainage or not but according to the online research, it just might. Contacted Chevy authorized service and they are not willing to replace the part at their cost since there has not been an official recall. I was put on hold for 5 minutes waiting to learn of the part price, at which point I hung up. There are numerous online reports of this problem and being that it is a life safety issue, one might think that Chevy would be interested in not incurring more lawsuits than they already have against them.

Red check airbag light is on constantly. All repair shops indicate that there have been many more, and the expense for repair would run from $450 to $1,000. It seems that GM already knows about this malfunction, since there are many other reports. Since the light is on, the airbag will not work in the event of a crash. It would seem that GM would repair these immediately unless they want another ignition switch catastrophe. It shouldn't take someone dying as a result of this malfunction to get GM to act. As of now, my airbag will not inflate in the event of a crash.

Air bag light just came on an had it see a dealer told me I had both sensors in the front of the truck bad and wanted to charge me around $850 to replace them I didn't have that kind on money to spend they told me it wouldn't effect the running of my truck but if I get in a wreck my air bags probably will not work is this not a safety problem GM should take care of they thousands of trucks like mine with the air bag light on an not air bag want work if they wreck I can only hope that they are a recall on this before anymore people get hurt or kill that could be prevented if GM would do what's right and fix the problem.

Vehicle has service airbag light and message on the dic indicating a faulty air bag safety system. I bought a 2005 Silverado from my mother, and she bought the truck off of a used dealer lot purchasing for 12,500 four years ago. Since then the truck has had an air bag sensor replaced and it once again showing the air bag needs serviced, which can be very dangerous to truck owners in situations of a crash. Was told they go out commonly. The truck has also had an ABS issue since it was purchased on the lot, we sent it back to be fixed, and the issue was never solved, it has been looked at by three technicians. This is also a public safety hazard if the ABS causes the brakes to fail. The truck also has numerous electrical issues, such as the gear selector does not illuminate, in which case someone may not be able to determine what gear they are in and cause an incident, the headlight, tail light, brake light, and marker lights are always blowing bulbs, the dash cluster doesn't always want to illuminate either, this could cause a crash especially at dark when you cannot see the RPM, speedo, oil press, temp, or any other gage present.
