The air bag service light and is lit as well as the service center saying it needs service, also has the same brake problems the 2007 and up Silverado where recalled for with the failure of the front ABS sensors. The ABS problem could cause an accident at low speed because everytime you stop the ABS system activates and pulses until stopped at 15 to 20 mph and increases stopping distance. The air bag light is because of a sensor failure in the front end area and requires replacement. From what I read on the internet these are well known safety issues with the model trucks. The other problems with the premature failure of brake lines that have corroded, and the check engine light being on for the ever well known problem of the vacuum solenoid near the full tank. These are constant problems with this yr and other models at GM. They should be recalled.

Rotten brake lines. I looked at the brake lines while changing my oil. My truck has 47K on it. I called GM. They told me that I had to bring it to a dealer. I did. They confirmed that the brake lines are bad and need to be replaced. $1500 also the transmission cooling lines are leaking. I have been through almost all of the brake problems listed on this web cite. ABS light comes on, twice, 2nd time I replaced the left hub bearing assembly. The 1st time the dealer replaced the front ABS sensors. Air bag light comes on, I replaced a bad front air bag sensor, right side. This truck is turning into a money pit!!!!! this new (rotten lines) issue is a safety issue as was the ABS issue. GM needs to do a full recall and replace the brake lines before someone gets killed.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the heater motor operated constantly, even while the vehicle was shut off, causing the vehicle to lose power. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified, but denied any assistance with repairs. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileages were 116,000.

While driving my truck down the freeway, the engine light suddenly came on and a warning appeared on the dashboard stating "reduced engine power" and the truck shut itself down to 10 miles an hour in seconds. I had vehicles coming up behind me traveling at 60 mph and higher that nearly hit me from behind. Even if I floored the gas pedal the truck would not speed up making it extremely difficult to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. The local Chevy dealership had my truck 2 days and charged me $400 for an emissions part. I picked my truck up on Thursday evening, Jan. 20, 2011, and it broken down the very next morning with the same issue. I took it right back over there and they told me to return it on Monday Jan. 24 which I did. They returned the truck to me on weds. Jan. 26, and said they couldn't figure out the problem but may have been a loose wire. The truck broke down with the same issue again on Feb 14. The dealership had it another 3 days and said they soldered some connections. Again on March 10, my truck broke down again, same issue. They had my truck until March 14, and again charged me for replacing the wiring harness and throttle body. I picked my truck up at 6 pm mon March 14 and it already broke down again this morning March 16, same issue. On two occasions now I have had my kids in the back seat, driving on the freeway when the engine decides to shut itself down. No one at Chevy seems to care if we are injured or killed when we are hit due to this defective truck. I am not the only Chevy owner reporting this problem. Not only are there complaints all over the internet, but the dealership had another truck in at the same time as mine at the March 10 visit, with the exact same issue and it had already been in multiple times for the same issue as well.

I bought a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab used from bill byrd Kia in panama city Florida on 03/02/2009 and was told the vehicle would be covered under any remaining factory warranty, was led to believe it was a 5 year/100,000 drive train warranty. Unfortunately, .I did not do my homework on that statement. The truck had 36,581 miles at time of purchase. I have driven the truck for personal use only and took very good care and had regular oil changes performed. I am now facing a motor rebuild. The engine started making some knocking/crunching sounds from the low end and I'm told the camshaft, bearings, oil pump, seals, gaskets, etc have to be replaced at an estimated cost of $3,500. I have called the Chevrolet consumer number I found for their Corp office in detroit and am told by Chevrolet that this particular truck only had a 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty.so I am left paying these repairs out of pocket on a truck less than 5 years old with less than 60,000 miles. I certainly feel ripped off after financing the truck for a period of 5 years. I have no choice except to pay for the repairs since it would have no trade in value in the condition it is in.

I own a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado with the 5.3 engine. I purchased my truck brand new and now have approximately 115,000 miles on it. Recently, I noticed a knocking sound coming from the engine and brought it to a GM dealership thinking it was a pulley or other minor repair. Instead, I was informed it was a bad cam rocker arm roller bearing. They proceeded to repair the issue and my total bill came to $3,242.84. I did some research on my own and found that GM has been aware that this part is defective on 2005 through 2007 5.3 engines, however, this part has never been recalled. With the amount of miles I have on my truck (over 100,000), it is no longer under warranty. In my research, I learned that this part is either an engineering defect or a supplied part that GM did not adequately contain before shipping the bad product to their customers. After numerous conversations with GM, they informed me that their engines basically do not last over 115,000. I have owned Chevrolet for over 36 years and have not come across any engine issues which is why I continued to buy them. Even after confronting GM with my findings, they are not willing to reimburse me nor are they willing to recall the defective part.

Bought it new, replaced battery in 6 months, have replaced headlights and back lights twice, the truck shimmies while braking, engine light keeps coming on, engine heats up while idling, shall I continue? I have purchased GMC prior to this Chevrolet. I do like the product but GMC has incredible customer service for these types of problems. Chevrolet will not provide you with a loaner and can never duplicate the problem. I hope the truck lasts until my last payment.
