ABS does not work, light is on the dash. Airbag lights are on the dash and not sure if they are working, tailgate does not latch closed. Key does not always want to turn and we need to move it back and forth before it will start the vehicle.

Towing my 12000lb. 5th wheel on interstate 95 just South of palm coast fl. I puller over to check the brakes on the 5th wheel. The brake pedal went to the floor, because the brake line had rusted through. The truck has never been in an snow. Had to flat-bed truck to local Chevy dealer. They replaced two lines. On May 1, 2014, the other remaining lines ruster through and the truck had to be towed to the dealer again. No warning, either time. Never had a brake line rust through. Truck only had 67,000 miles on it. Luckily, it didn't quit towing 12000 ibs. Down the expressway...updated 06/26/14

2007 Chevy Silverado brake lines rusted out. Luckily I wasn't driving. Noticed while car was parked. Oil all over the ground. Chevy charged me 480 for new brake lines. Ridiculous. I have had cars 20 years old and lines never rusted. Dealer admitted they aren't stainless steel from factory. People can die from this if they are driving, lines leak, they have no brakes.

The front wheel hubs and bearings, including wheel speed sensors, are failing on these pickups. This is, apparently, a known issue and GM refuses to do anything about it. Why not? this is a blatant safety issue.

ABS sensor reads incorrectly and triggers the ABS system to kick in every time the brakes are used, causing the brake pedal to rumble and giving the sensation of brake failure when the pedal goes soft under your foot. This is worse when turning left. Extra distance is required for braking at all times. ABS warning light comes on at random times for no apparent reason.

My 2007 Silverado has the same brake problem that was a recall on older model Silverado's. the NHTSA campaign number for the previous recall was 05V379000. It appears the Canadian transportation board ordered a recall for the 2007 models but the NHTSA has not. Is this something being looked into?

Silverado 2500 4WD 8-cyl Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact purchased the vehicle with an integrated brake controller that is used for hauling a trailer with brakes. When he applies the brakes in his vehicle, the brakes on the trailer are supposed to illuminate simultaneously. However, this is not the case. While hauling a camper at 30 mph, each time the contact applied the brakes, the trailer would push the vehicle forward, nearly causing a rear end crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately 3 times. The first time, the dealer stated that they could not diagnose the failure because the system was brand new. The second time, the contact spoke with the service manager and was informed that they needed the proper tools to diagnose the failure. The third time, they inspected the vehicle and stated that the vehicle was supposed to have a 2.5 second delay from when he electronically applied the brakes in the vehicle to the time that it reached the trailer. The contact stated that it felt more like a 3.5 second delay. The failure mileage was between 500-1000 and the current mileage was 8,606.
