The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado equipped with cooper dean mud terrain radial SXT, size: 119/116N. While driving 65 mph, the steering wheel started to wobble and made a loud abnormal noise under the vehicle. The contact stated that the front driver side tire blew out. An independent mechanic replaced the tire. The tires were replacement tires. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 149,910 and the tire failure mileage was unknown. MA 10/23/15

Hello I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 2500 4X4 truck with original equipment Firestone tires. Steeltex radial A/T lt 245/75 R16 made in Canada 28661 ur bm 05327-1 to date I have had 3 of the five tires suffer belt separation and another one looks to be going the same path as it is showing the same charateristics and driving warning signs as the first three failures. These failures have occurred at 24,373, 37,300, and 51,972.

I had just entered onto the interstate and had gone about 5 miles when my front right tire blew sending me to the side of the road. I have always rotated these tires every 6000 miles and kept 32-34 pounds of air pressure in them. When the tire blew the whole tread from around the tire separated leaving only the two sidewalls attached to a severely damaged mag-alloy wheel. I was the only one in the vehicle and suffered no apparent injuries. However it is a little unerving to have this happen at 65 miles per hour. I went to the Firestone dealer and was told that this paticular tire was under no recall and there are no complaints. I am sure I will have no luck getting reimbursed for the tire/tires and rim but feel it necessary to at least make a complaint regarding this tire. Like I said proper maintenance had been performed on these tires and the dealer commented the remaining three looked similar in wear with no abnormalities. All three remaining tires had exactly the same amount of wear. I appreciate the opportunity to report this incident and will appreciate any help I can get.

This is the second tire of the original tires that the rubber has seperated from the cord on this vechicle. These were not any of the tires listed on recall but have been a problem for me to deal with. The first was replaced before the recall was made on any of the tires and that is documented for replacement. The second tire that separated rubber was on 02-03-02. Is it possible there are problems with this particular tire also. I wanted to report it so that there is some type of documentation if there is a failure in the manufacturing of this type and model of tire. I have lost credibility for safety in Firestone tires at this point and intend to remove them all from my vehicle asap. Thank you for any information or assistance that you may offer. Right front tires were wearing out. Had tires rotated, and they still wore out, and vehicle was vibrating. This problem has occurred earlier. Contacted dealer, and dealer aligned tires. But, they still could not not find cause on why tires were wearing out.

Driving on a grated dirt road, the right front tire blew and almost took us of the road. We were going camping and was fortunate it did not happen when we were going passed the step ledges. When the tire blew it forced us off the road and into some brush. No vehicle or passenger injury (luckily). I just want to report this issue so that maybe Firestone will do a recall on some of the other tires that are obviously defective. Please take this near miss into consideration, because if this tire blew about 8 miles earlier we could have went off the embankment. (tiresize: P265/75/16)

Noticed belt protruding out of left front tire. Took vehicle to Firestone dealer. They told me my tires were not under any kind of warranty because, they came as original equipment on my vehicle. I then showed the manager the warranty that came with the vehicle. He said nowhere did he see that they should replace the tires. All the information pertaining to replacing the tires was there on the first page. They then tried to tell me that the tire damage was due to normal wear and I had an alignment problem. I told him I want Firestone to honor the warranty and replace it on a prorated basis. The manager then told me that he knew nothing about tires because he was not a tire manager. He then told me several other locations where the facilities had tire managers. He then let me drive off with a damaged tire. Not even offering to put on the spare tire. (tiresize: 265/75/16)

Tire failed when the truck was parked. The brakes do not always apply full braking when the peddle is pushed to the floor. This is not the ABS activating. The braking distance may be 3 to 4 times what it should be. The dealer tested the the brake system and test drove it and said that everything is normal. The peddle travel does not seem to have enough to allow for variations in the system. I believe this is a design defect. (tiresize: P265/75R16)( dot number: Tire size: P265/75R16 )
