The consumer stated that 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was having a problem with the ABS engaging at low speeds, 5-10 mph. The consumer contacted GM, and this vehicle not included in the recall. The consumer took the truck to a repair shop and had the truck fixed. The repair shop replaced the hub bearing. The dealership was contacted, and they said that it happened a lot. The bearing was replaced on the left front, and that seemed to have fixed the vehicle.

Tailgate cables broke while standing on tailgate loading materials-no injury (July 2003). Left front day time running light blew and burnt the socket. Have seen numerous other same models with same problem (2001). Back passenger doors on the extended cab do not fully lock during 30 degree weather and below until the interior heats up. (Dec-Feb 2000-2004) left front wheel hub bearing is defective after 38,000 miles. (Dec 2004)

At first I thought maybe wet road but it nows does it every morning when coming to a stop at the end of my road dealer said I need to replace front wheel bearing. Have an appointment for first week in Sept. And will have all parts saved.

The consumer took the vehicle to be inspected. This is when the mechanic noticed that the front wheel bearings on the left and right side needed to be replaced. There was three inches of looseness up and down, left and right on both wheel because of bearing failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they agreed that the bearing were worn. The vehicle had exceeded the 36000 mile warranty by about 200 miles, therefore the consumer had to pay for the repairs. The consumer was also informed that there were no grease fittings which is why the bearings had to be replaced. Manifold/gasket leaked due to poor design.
