I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado and the brake system start going out last week. Took it to my GMC dealer, where I purchase the vehicle from. They stated that the brake line are completely rusted and the issue is so extensive that they cannot do work to it. I need to find an independent auto repair shop. I purchase a premium warranty from the dealership and they are the only one that has been performing maintenance on the truck for the last 1 1/2 years.

While driving home around 10 pm with small children; my truck started to surge, became difficult to control, and the gauges did not register anything ( all at 0). This road was in the middle of nowhere and outside a bad area, so I called my husband to come follow me home and I drove home slowly all the while enduring a chugging motion. What is normally a 20 minute trip became an hour and a half trip. When I got home and shut the truck off my husband looked at it thinking that the fuel injectors could be the problem since they had just been recalled and replaced. The truck would not start when he went to restart it and the dash said 'unknown driver". through some research we discovered it is a faulty passlock system. We went through the recommendations and it was fixed. This occurred again today August 18, 2011 while driving and I now can not start my vehicle or have it towed because it can not be put on a truck because everything is locked up tight and can not be unlocked. We changed the batteries in the key fobs to no avail. The windows are stuck open and it is rainy season here. They lights come on and the information center keeps says 'unknown driver." I am now afraid to drive my truck for fear that the next time I will not be able to control it. I have an 18 year old that drives my truck to college and I live in great fear that he will not be able to control the vehicle if it does the same thing while driving it.

When braking at any speed brake pedal would go to the floor, and there would be extended stopping distance. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. ABS displayed brake system failure. The consumer stated that the brakes failed on inclines. The consumer stated that there was an electrical short. The odometer failed and added extra mileage. The tires started separating after 300 miles. The radio became hot and shorted out. The air conditioner shorted out. The consumer stated that the new vehicle checklist was not filled out nor reviewed with him. The consumer stated that the engine knocks. The consumers fingers were burned by the radio after it got hot. The consumer stated that he heard a growling noise in the power steering. The consumer heard a buzzing noise in the transmission. The consumer had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle coming down a hill. The right headlight went out and turned black. The headlight was replaced with the wrong high beam light. The cd player will not take the cd. The speedometer will only go to 20 mph at times.

Bought a new 2003 Z-71 Chevrolet Silverado in Sept 03'. had a bouncing while driving at any speed. Went to the dealer and was told that I probably needed a tire balance. So I went to their tire shop. I did this five(5) separate times. So then they thought maybe a bad tire. So, I had all tires changed. I have now had three(3) differant sets of tires put onto this vehicle. So then I E-mailed Chevrolet with no response. About three weeks later I E-mailed them again. This time I got a phone call from Chevrolet. They had me set up a ride along with the service manager. Just leaving the dealership for the test drive, the service manager commented on the vibration in his rear through the seat. 20 minutes later his comment was "this would drive me crazy!". at that point they changed the rear shocks. No help. So I called the dealership to see what was their next coarse of action and the service manager told me he was meeting with his rep. And a engineer and wanted the truck back again three weeks later. So after I dropped it off, later I got a call from the service manager that there are two setting on the front end that they wanted to try. I got my vehicle back without any explaination from anyone about what was done now. I didn't want to take it but was told that leaving it there would not help because if this did not work that pretty much too bad. No one had a solution for me I was then told that it was drivin' be the engineer and compared to several others. They then said it's probably a characteristic of the vehicle. However, I was not givin a chance to drive any other at any time nor did I see any 2003 Z-71's on their lot. So what did they compare it to and why wasn't I givin an oportunity to drive another?? I also work on a used car lot myself and have driven 2 other 2003 Z-71's which we had and one was lifted. Neither had the bounce mine has. Some roads bounce so much that the truck starts to hop constantly. Not to mention the back pain after long drives.
