Sonic LT 1.8L

So I am driving and the car just dies, lights, engine ,steering just dead. Manage to brake but just shy of almost killing myself, my child and possibly the other driver crossing the intersection. This is a major safety issue. Dealer couldn't replicate issue, so therefore, it didn't happen. Should have known not to buy another Chevy after my 2015 issue with the Chevy Cruze that landed me in a canal.

Any advise on what to do i still owe 6 gs on this car and its not even safe to drive . it has 179500 miles so Chevy wont do nothing for me. how do we get Chevy to recall these cars as i see i am not the only one with this issues.

Sonic LTZ 4 cyl 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

Purchased a 2015 Sonic, LTZ, pre-owned, certified with 14,000 miles from a Chevrolet Dealer in PA. The car was purchased for my daughter in College, age 19yrs. The car drove fine for 8,000 miles after purchase, then all hell broke loose with engine problems, thermostat problems. The car failed 4 times in a month. Back to the dealer that has not been able to fix it. It remains at the dealer as of today. In one month went back 4 times. This car is really built poorly. I called GM and they told me they will fix it only can't do anything else, if the car needs a new engine they will put that in.

the car just STALLED on me...on a busy street, all warmed up I was waiting for school buses to pass and it just stalled...started back up again...but this is the second time it happened.

the first time it happened I was at home..and i thought i started to leave too soon..and it was cold...

annoying because now I have to go back to the dealer to get it fixed...and my peace of mind is gone :(

Sonic LT Hatchback 1.4L 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,500 miles

I rented this vehicle and enjoyed the first few rides. Then, one time when I turned the car on and let it idle for just a few minutes it died. I thought it was the alternator going out perhaps, not maintaining a proper charge. But on another day, when I tried to turn to cross traffic to enter my neighborhood, the car died. When I say died, I mean that the only light on was the D and the mph on the screen. The steering became difficult and I just very very slowly rolled across traffic with the very little momentum the car had, and stopped the car. I'm really thankful a stampede of cars weren't speeding, like they usually do, when I crossed. This is a fairly significant issue. This COULD hurt someone. I'll be telling the place where I obtained the rental about this occurrence, but thought other owners or perhaps potential buyers should be aware of the this potential issue. Scary!!
