CarComplaints.com Notes: Engines shouldn't need a new quart of oil every 500-1000 miles, but for thousands of Suburban owners that's exactly what's happening. Engine oil consumption on aluminum block engines with Active Fuel Management (AFM) is out of control and owners are left looking for answers.

The most likely culprit is an uncovered AFM valve which, in many cases, can be covered under warranty. The problem is the issues don't stop there and many owners have been told by GM just to buy a new engine. Take one guess who they want to pick up the tab.

When scheduling for airbag recall repair the dealership has informed me that the service may cause the dash to crack or fall in during or after the install. They also advised me that this damage is not covered under the recall warranty. If the dash is not intact that will result in the airbag not being able to properly deploy.

Plastic dash has several cracks from front to back. One near passenger air bag. If this were to deploy it could add additional damaging debris. Also appearance is bad and devalues vehicle. Happened within the first two years of ownership and continued use of stationary, in motion on city streets or highway driving.

"takata recall" the dashboard has cracked in several places and over the course of a few months, has completely broken over the instrument cluster. This is a safety hazard as I am afraid other pieces will fly out in the event of an accident. My family and I have been faithful customers of GM since the 50's but I am strongly considering another brand since GM does not honor or offer to fix repeated problems by its owners.
