The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe equipped with cooper tires, size: 235/75R15. The contact stated that while driving, he heard a loud flapping noise from under the vehicle. The contact took the tires to an authorized dealer to have them inspected where he was informed that all four of the tires were separating from the internal wiring. The dealer advised that there were no recalls for the tires. The failure mileage and VIN was not available.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle was taken to a GM dealer to have the tires rotated and balanced. One of the tires Goodyear rt/S P265/75R16 114S OWL serial mk73D5hr0108 had tread separation at the top of sidewall. I received $75 credit from Goodyear due to mileage. The tire had 34,000 miles on it. The tire was replaced with Goodyear sra. The tire was purchased 04/05/2008 in Illinois. This tire was purchased as a set of two. The second tire is starting to exhibit the same characteristics.

I purchased 4 sumitomo htr sport H/P P285/50R20 on 9/26/2006 from East coast tire sales. This tires were stored in a garage until February 06, 2007 when they were professional mounted, balanced and installed on the Chevy Tahoe with 53,604 miles. Dot id#'s follow. > V4jd3mtr1306 V4jd3mtr1306 V4jd3mtr1306 V4jd3mtr0406 on March 8, 2008, at highway speed the right rear V4jd3mtr1306 blew out for no reason and without any warning. It was replaced with V4jd3mtr4507. The repair shop said that it was road hazard even through there are only 5,000 miles on the tires. I had to pay $117.70 to replace a tire I feel should have been 100% warranty replacement at no cost to me. On March 20, 2008 again at highway speed the left rear V4jd3mtr1306 blew out. Again the tire tread is in excellent condition and the blow out occurred with no warning and for no reason. These were both immediate and complete tire failures at 75 miles per hour. I feel these tires are defective and need the remaining two tires to be replaced also. The tires were mounted at 53,604 miles the vehicle now has 58,700 miles this is only 5,100 miles for tires rated utqg 480 aa H-rated durability. > I also purchased the extended warranty from sonsio diamond > 1-800-553-2878 the warranty id #'s are below. > > id# nk-5022-9683 > id# nk-5022-9684 > id# nk-5022-9685 > id# nk-5022-9687 please call 480-497-6710 or email az32guy@yahoo.com a reply to this dangerous safety issue. > chip mandela

I was 20 miles from home going 64 mph, on a slight curve. I heard and felt the back tire blow the tire wall from the point of tire wear to the center. I was shocked at the damage.. the Tahoe leaned severely to the right, but remained upright. I held the steering wheel tight and straight. And eased the Tahoe to the side of the road. The Tahoe was hard to control, but was able to get it to the side of the highway. When the tire blew the Tahoe leaned severely to the right. When I got out of the Tahoe, I discovered the tire had suffered catastrophic failure. The tire compleley collasped. The side wall completely blow away. This tire was a full size spare with only 4000 miles on it. Square chunks where removed from part of the sidewall. There were a number of tears in the tire. From the point of the tread to the center.. I called my husband on the cell phone; he was in the middle of a trial (he's an attorney). He drove the 20 miles to the site and he was shocked at the damage. We called a tow truck the wheel itself was damaged. At this time we do not know if the rear axle is damaged, it will be checked out tomorrow. It's at the dealership now. No one had seen anything like it. This was not a flat, it was an entire blowout. We still have possession of the defective tire and photos were taken at the scene and at the dealership. (tiresize: P2451/76R1)( dot number: Tire size: P2451/76R1 )
