In Nov of 2008 we started having problems with the speedometer. Took it to our dealer and they replaced the ipc and it did not fix the problem, after we got the Tahoe back we started having problems with the cruise control as well. The speedometer becomes jerky and if we use the cruise the Tahoe speeds up and we have to turn cruise off to stop it from speeding out of control. Also when the speedometer becomes jerky the service brake system alarm goes off after it makes it hard to stop. (we have almost rear ended someone several times.)recently 12-2009 our service engine light is on. We have taken the Tahoe to our dealer and replaced several parts and nothing seems to make these problems go away. Please help as we have three kids and one on the way. The parts we have replaced are as follows: The front brake sensor and hub, the instrument panel cluster, ebc electronic brake control module and the fuel filter. Which is everything recommended by our dealer. I just want it fixed!!!!

I own a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. About a year ago my speedometer and fuel gauge stopped working. I received a speeding ticket because the officer said I was going 5 miles over speed limit. I ran out of gas twice. I called alocal GM dealer who gave me an estimate of 500 dollars. He said he knew what it was but wouldn't tell me the problem. I know of at least 4 other GM owners with same problem. I have been unemployed for 8 months and cannot afford this repair. GM needs to fix this problem.

Recently purchased (3 days ago) a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and both my wife and I noticed erratic behavior from speedometer. After much research and another family member with the same problem on a 2004 Tahoe, we realized that this was a serious safety issue that an extreme amount of other people were having. The speedometer "sticks" at different points while accelerating or decelerating, I wish to get this issue resolved as soon as possible via recall. GM is well aware of this problem and it should issue a full recall on the instrument cluster to fix the problem. A simple "special situation" warranty is not good enough. GM must issue a recall on this very widely experienced problem. They also said that although my mileage was only 2000 miles over the "70,000" mile mark, they wouldn't fix it. This is a serious safety issue! GM...do the right thing! reference blogs and GM class action lawsuit at: townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.F11F710/159 and also at www.lrolaw.com/pdf/gmspeed.pdf.

In the period of 4 weeks I experienced two high speed tire failures while traveling on interstate 95 in Virginia. In each case I was barely able to maintain vehicle control and pull off the road. In each case the tires were completely destroyed and off the rim. After the second case I chose to have all four tire replaced and prior to actual removal I checked the tire stem on one of the 2 remaining (not new tires) and discovered the valve stem had a split. The same was discovered on the other tire still on the vehicle. I also checked the valve stem on the latest tire that had gobe flat and it to had a crack. It is clear that at least 3 and most likely four of the valve stems failed causing the complete destruction of two relatively new tires (less than 17 K miles) and almost resulting in two high speed interstate vehicle accidents.

I own a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. I noticed in the fall of 2004 that my speedometer was beginning to be wrong - I would be running at 1,900 RPM, which for my vehicle is about 65 mph, but the speedometer would only be showing 40 mph. I took the Tahoe into my dealers service dept where they told me that the speedometer cluster was bad and would have to be replaced. I had an extended warranty, so this was not a problem. A new cluster was replaced on 12/6/04 when the Tahoe had 40,000. I now have over 108,000 miles on it and the replacement speedometer is now doing the same things the old one did. The other night (3/29/08) I was driving home at 1,900 RPM on the tach and the speedometer needle was sitting on 0 mph - now I know I wasn't standing still on the highway! I have heard about many many other Chevy owners with vehicles around the same year as mine having the exact same problem with their speedometers. When is GM going to admit there is a problem and issue a recall so people aren't required to pay $300-$700 (depending upon dealer info) to replace their faulty speedometers. This is a very dangerous problem.

4 wheel drive light came on and would not engage. The dealer told the consumer it was a software problem. The consumer thought the problem was resolved until a couple of weeks later when he attempted to place the vehicle in reverse and it did not engage. After trying a second time if engaged and the 4-wheel drive light illuminated again and the vehicle failed to go into 4-wheel drive. The consumer was finally told that the manufacturer did not have a fix for the malfunction of the 4-wheel drive. The vehicle had other problems such as a rattling noise coming from the glove compartment, the remote keyless entry was inoperative, there was a thumping sound coming from the drivers side when the consumer made a turn, the emblem fell off the back of the truck, the seat mechanism did not work and there was in the drivers side running board.
