I noticed in 2017 that I had 2 cracks in my dashboard of my 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ. I contacted GM about the issue, after hearing this was a huge issue with Chevrolet. I was informed to reach out to my dealership for assistance. I did that, and in return was informed by both GM and the dealership that nothing could be done. It was going to cost my $1,100+ to have the dash replaced. I refuse to pay that, as this is a GM defective product. GM should be responsible for replacing all dashboards where this is an issue. And if I paid the money to have it replaced, it will be the same exact dash that I currently have. How long will it take before it cracks again?!?! Unacceptable and horrible work on GMs part.
I'm not sure exactly when the first crack in the dashboard appeared but I noticed it about six months ago on the passenger side. The driver side dash above the instrument panel had a large V shaped crack in it. Because the dash is broken on both sides, it looks as if the dashboard was hit by a violent person. After some research I found that this seems to be a problem with a lot of Tahoes. It definitely is a defective part but even more I'm concerned with the fact that this could cause the air bags malfunction in the event of an accident because the entire dash would explode.
My wife's 2012 Tahoe has three cracks in dash board with only 33,909 miles on the car...Called Mountain View Chevrolet in Chattanooga where the car was purchased new and its was more or less us $2200.00 to fix it or live with it..
When I first got the car it only lasted maybe a year and I seen the first crack in my dash. Not sure how that happened because we were always keeping up with maintenance and cleanings. I keep my visor up as it is parked thinking the sun could have been some of the issue. This year I have 2 added cracks, one continues to get larger. The dealership I deal with is a joke and can't even seem to get a clicking noise fixed...even after sending it over to them 4 times for the issue. I have read that when your dash is cracked and especially around your airbags this could cause significant damages to the passengers. I cannot believe the manufacturers have not recalled this issue to help their customers!
Dash has three different cracks. After checking internet to see if there is a fix I have found out this is a huge problem with GM vehicles. GM should recall this as my vehicle is not that old. I have never had a vehicle dash crack. If they would quit making with cheap plastic this would not a be a problem.

When we purchased the 2012 Tahoe I noticed the interior dash and other materials were not the same as our 2003 Tahoe. Well here we go three years later and we have a crack in the dash. Never before have we had a dash crack on a Chevy vehicle. I fee GMC - Chevrolet needs to step up and correct this issue. This must be an ongoing issue because when I selected Interior, dash crack was already listed. Let's fix this issue free of charge so that the vehicle will continue with it beauty. Since the crack has started I now hear a rattle noise on the dash.
