Trailblazer 4WD 6-cyl

We bought our 04 Trailblazer used about a year and a half ago. It was owned by enterprise before and therefore already had 30000 miles on it but we knew that it was maintained well. It is now at 71000 miles and we have done all recommended maintenance. Yesterday, while on the interstate the transmission lost third gear and above. This was dangerous but luckily I got off of the interstate with no incidence. This morning we took the truck to our local and trusted mechanic who determined that the transmission was shot. He called jasper to get a price on a new transmission and during that conversation, jasper informed him that they have done 15 upgrades to this particular GM transmission and that even GM is buying replacement transmissions from them. I think that GM should consider some type of recall on the transmissions due to the obvious amount of problems they are causing. Needless to say.. my warranty is expired and I have to shell out $3000 to repair a 3 yr old vehicle.

- sometime in late September 2006, while driving at 65 mph the transmission began to slip. The vehicle sounded as if it wanted to accelerate, but couldn't. the contact's vehicle continued to have the failure for about 10 seconds. The vehicle also had the same type of failure while at a stop light. While trying to accelerate the vehicle's speed decreased to 5 mph for about 20-30 seconds. On 10/11/06 contact took the vehicle to the dealership. Dealership replaced the exhaust check valve. On 10/17/06 vehicle continued to have the same failure and the engine light was turning on, . the contact took the vehicle to the dealership where they replaced the oxygen sensor. The contact continued to have the same incident with the transmission slipping and the check engine light coming on. Contact took the vehicle to the dealership on 10/3106, and they replaced the valve body. It continued to have the same incident with the transmission slipping, but this time the engine light was not showing. He took the vehicle to the dealership on 12/20/06, and they stated that there wasn't anything wrong with the vehicle. The contact currently has the vehicle parked at home and does not plan to drive it because he doesn't feel safe in vehicle. Updated 2/26/2007 -

While I'm driving the car will just turn off. I can be at a light, turning, merging onto traffic or just sitting in traffic. I've been able to avoid three accident to date. I did bring the car in to the dealer - they fixed it. Until it happened three days later. It happens 6 out of the 7 days a week.

Trailblazer 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,300 miles
I own a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer and the transmission recently failed, due to causes unknown. This concerns me because I only have 54,000 miles on my vehicle and it has received all scheduled maintenance. Also I've done some research to find out that is a recurring issue starting in 2002 with the Trailblazer. I am going to contact Chevrolet for repair but my warranty is expired and I am sure is will have to pay for all repairs.

Transmission slips when accelerating such as merging onto a highway. Has occurred at least 10 times. Has been to dealer 3 times but say they cannot find a problem if check engine light does not come on. Has happened intermittently over a year - vehicle has only 27,000 on it.

Shortly after I purchased a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer I began to have problems with a loud vibration from the undercarriage. It has been to the shop numerous times but is still not fixed. Recently the vehicle began stalling out at any given time. Dealer could not replicate. Still does it!!! around the same time my transmission would slip. Dealer could not replicate. Still does it!!! now I am feeling a lot of vibration in the steering wheel when I turn. Talked to other TB owners and I thinking I will need to replace the struts. What next!!

2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer (V6). Vehicle suddenly shifts itself into 4 wheel drive low gear without warning and without any action by the driver. Vehicle was brought to authorized repair center and dismissed as driver error. Shifting any vehicle into 4 wd low requires a definitive action by the driver of the vehicle. An action that the driver would know they performed. This is the 3rd such incident with GM vehicles my company has had. All dismissed as driver error. Investigative action needs to be taken at some level. Our local dealers and repair centers don't seem to be concerned.

The vehicle switches from 2wd to AWD on its own. This causes the vehicle to klunk and buck. It almost feels like someone is hitting the vehicle fom behind. This happened several times before we figured out what the problem was. Vehicle was repaired at the dealership. This was only one of twenty-one failures I have experienced with this vehicle since I purchased it in may of 2004- not to mention my severe back pain that is caused from the driver's seat. I have owned 9 vehicles, and have never witnessed such poor quality in a automobile. I am seeking a buy-back from GM.

Trailblazer 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,400 miles
When accelerating from a stop drive train hesitates and engine comes to a near stall, and then accelerates. This does not occur on every start, randomly. Took vehicle into dealer who stated that it was normal for the type of drive train. Then the dealer reprogrammed the vehicle. After one day of driving the problem has begun again. This hesitation is very dangerous crossing traffic and in intersections.

Car has a vibration when the speed is held constant. Been to the dealer twice, they found that all for tires were out of balance. Problem still there, gave one tech ride because they could not replicate, he said it was unusal but he was front end guy, second tech and service manager said it was normal, not sure if they were able to replicate. Was told to bring it back when problem got worse or broke.
