The service airbag was on sometimes last year for two weeks. I took the car to a dealership but was told that there was nothing they can do and the light has been on and off since then. The first of March the service airbag light came up and remained on since that time. So scary, having the fear of the unknown. Please can someone help and make sure that 2014 Chevy Traverse airbag is recall for the safety of the people.

The airbag light has been on for two years. The dealer said it is not a recall and I will have to come out of pocket for the repair. The dealer did inform me that the longer the light stays on, the less the chance the airbags will deploy in an accident. They also told me it affects all of the airbags and not just the drivers side. Looks like it will take a death or a serious injury for Chevy to do the right thing.

I just bought this car on July 17 2018, 4 days later I got the "Service Air Bag" light illuminated on my car's dashboard, I have no clue if this is something serious and need to be fixed immediately or I have to wait so it might go off! not sure what would be the cost if I decide to fix it!

There are a lot of complaints about this issue in the internet, but no recall has been issued. WHY?

Turned on the car yesterday morning 11th Feb 2018 only to see the Service Airbag Message pop-up on the dashboard and the light blinking at the same time...I was startled because I have never seen this sort of message in any car I have driven.

This light continued to blink and hugely distracted me while I was driving because I didn't know what could happen next.

After about 5 KM into our trip the light and message went-off, then popped-up again...

On my return trip home the light and message had cleared-out and I didn't know what to expect still.

After searching the internet yesterday, I found-out that this Make and model is having issues with the airbag light coming-on randomly, I was confident it should be a covered fix...

Called the dealership this morning and he said he can't be sure what is wrong with the car until it is brought-in and only then can he tell if the repair would be covered by warranty....

The number of complaints of this nature is so significant that you can almost think the manufacturer is not ready to own-up and address this nightmare!!!

I expect the manufacturer to issue a straight recall for correcting this issue (at absolutely no cost to the owners) rather than put consumers' lives on the line with all the anxiety associated with not knowing if your airbag would deploy properly when the chips are down!

SO my airbag light came on. Called dealership now I have to wait to take in to get service pay a deductible, and make sure the problem is going to be covered under extended warranty. Really inconvenient!!! Shouldnt this be a recall if popped up out of nowhere!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

Air bag issues should be covered under manufacturers warranty for at least 5 years. It's not like it is a mechanical issue.

Traverse LS 3.6L

I have a 2014 chevy traverse w/37,000 miles and the service air bag light comes on. I decided to dis-connect the whole dam thing, so if I should get into a crash I will have my seat belt to help me, hell what did we do when we did not have any air bags or seatbelts we held onto the dash board or steering wheel and yelled like hell and then we hit our target. I have actually been hit w/ an air bag and let me tell you it hurts like a son of dirt and it almost knocked me out. I have seen many crashes in my life and a seat belt or airbag does not help sometimes it makes it worse, all of you who area bitching about the airbags or seem that it is the end of the world well dis-connect the dam things and move forward and stop crying about it. thanks for reading and have a great day.
