On 02/02/21 My 2015 Chevy Trax LTZAWD mileage 96,612 was taken to Karl Tyler Lewiston Chevrolet, Lewiston, Idaho. I experienced the check engine light and stabil trak light came on engine lost compression. The dealership said it had a code P300 misfire and replaced the coil, sparkplugs and oil change. the following morning on my way to work at 3:30AM the check engine light came on. Took the vehicle back to the dealership again a code P300 misfire. The following day again check engine light, again code P300 misfire was told sometimes the computer retains codes. On May 3, 2022 on my way home while traveling uphill the check engine light came on. Vehicle lost all compression car would not move forward I was on a curve going upward on an incline no shoulder, I put the car in neutral and allowed it to coast downhill till I could get to a place where it could be off road. Towed to Karl Tyler Lewiston Chevrolet, Lewiston, Id. Was told needs new engine. They told me that GM would consider under warranty allowing for MSRP charge and GM would cover 10% and I would be responsible for the remaining $7600 No recall on engine. Mileage 118,000 No Recall on engine yet
I have recently heard what could best be described as a squealing sound. I could also smell fuel inside the vehicle while driving. I thought it was oil that had leaked onto the serpentine belt and had it replaced but the noise continued. Listening closer I realized it was coming from the area around the intake manifold. Searching online I found several YouTube videos and comments from people mentioning loose spark plugs caused their issue. Checking mine I found that two of the four spark plugs were loose enough to not require a wrench to remove them. Tightening them eliminated the noise. I have owned this vehicle since it was brand new and have never asked a mechanic to check or replace spark plugs, nor have I done it myself. I did recently replace the intake manifold, which required removing and reinstalling the ignition coil. I feel like loose spark plugs represent a fire hazard as it allow the fuel to blow past the cylinders and into the engine compartment.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal, burning odor would emit throughout the vehicle cabin without warning. The contact's husband inspected that vehicle and discovered that the coolant had leaked out of the reservoir. The contact initially took the vehicle to the dealer where they informed her that the water pump and a transmission valve were leaking. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they replaced the serpentine belt. The contact stated that the vehicle was not equipped with a temperature gauge which caused the contact to not know that her vehicle was overheating. The contact stated that additional work needed to be performed on the vehicle due to the lack of a temperature gauge. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
When I-€™m driving I started to hear the gear shifter sound like it-€™s moving inbetween drive or maybe out of drive I-€™m not really sure. Then after that happens when I stop driving and turn the car off the car won-€™t release the key from the ignition. I have to wait for it to lock itself into park and then the key will release.
Component premature failure. 1. Purge valve replaced at 61,048 miles 2. Coolant flange and seal replaced at 61,511 miles 3. P0299 indicates problem with turbo charger compromised boost power, - injector control pressure sensor - EGR - MAP - Accelerator pedal Input I have to pay a expensive diagnostic from the dealer to find out the issue, it-€™s too expensive to do that now after Covid-19 money is scarce.

I have had to take my vehicle in several times for repair I am the first owner of this vehicle and it only has 87,000 miles on it. At 87,000 miles I have had to have the valve cover replaced for leaking. I have also had to have an oil pan leak replaced. An oil pan pin gasket replaced. And now my seat belt indicator light is not making noise when the seatbelt is not buckled in. I have tried to drive without a seatbelt on city streets and highways to see if the light would make noise and it does not the light is on on the dashboard but no noise is made to indicate that the seat belt is not on.
Car air conditioner started to blow hot air. Took car to dealership to have a multi-point inspection. Found refrigerant to be low, upon further inspection HVAC dye on compressor. Was told that the air conditioner compressor needs to be changed out.
My car started to overheat. I noticed the radiator cap would not close anymore. I had to replace the radiator cap. Car kept overheating, took it into the shop and it turned out I had to replace the thermostat, water outlet housing, and water pump.
Noticed coolant reservoir was empty. Put it in the shop and it is the turbo that Chevy manufactures with the engine. It is leaking. The vehicle is only a 2015 with 34,000 miles, the turbo should not be leaking already. It does need to be replaced. I have gotten all the maintenance done.
Started 2015 Chevy Trax in driveway and it started idling very rough. Car was working fine the previous day and had not been started / driven since. Left for work and car was jerking, loosing power and would not accelerate. Turned around and returned to house so dad could look at it and sister drove me to work in her car. Dad's comments: Drove car to advanced auto parts, approx. 2 miles, where they checked the battery, starter and alternator. Battery / starter checked ok, alternator checked out as bad. *attempted* to drive back home and experienced same problems as daughter. Car was idling rough, was unable to accelerate, traction control light came on, check engine light came on. Pulled off the road, shut off car, waited a few moments and restarted. Check engine light stayed solidly on. Turned onto main highway and was unable to accelerate. Car started shaking and smell of burning oil was present. Check engine light was "flashing" since I was 1/4 mile or less from the house, I was able to limp the car home and called dealership. Vehicle was towed and is currently sitting at mcclusky Chevrolet in kings auto mall, which is where the car was purchased used in Jan 2019. Onstar sent 4 messages: One was service interlock braking system, two were regarding the traction control system and one was for the exhaust emissions system. Note: This is the 5th time the car has been taken in for major repairs since January 2019 (when purchased) and the 2nd time in 2 months it had to be towed in. Last time was Jul 29, 2019 for failing brakes. Others have reported these exact same issues here on the NHTSA.gov site so there are obviously issues with the 2015 Chevy Trax that GM is not addressing.
I was driving my 2015 chev Trax and all of a sudden the vehicle started idling very rough and I was not able to accelerate. When I would push on the accelerator it would go down but the car would not speed up. I took the vehicle home and the next day I took it to an auto repair place where the mechanic said that there were multiple miscodes firing and that the check engine light was flashing.
The vehicle will stall while driving and not turn back on unless the vehicle is in park and the key is taken out and put back in. This is a severe safety hazard as it has almost caused me to crash multiple times and the dealership says they cannot find anything wrong with it.
The catalytic converter failed at 88,000 miles causing the check engine light to come on. This is no longer covered under warranty after 80,000 miles. Will not pass inspection until replaced, but there is a natiionwide backorder on this part. Is this a known issue that they aren't telling the car owners about? car does not run as efficiently, consumes more fuel than promised.

In addition, the power steering, check engine, and electronic throttle warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to feldman Chevrolet of livonia (32570 Plymouth rd, livonia, mi), but the failures could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Trax. While attempting to stop the vehicle, it lost power and the check engine indicator illuminated. While accelerating from a stop, the vehicle began to smoke profusely while the engine stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (turnpike Chevrolet, 4130 1 St avenue, nitro, wv 25143) informed the contact that the vehicle had no open recalls. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,295.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Trax. While driving various speeds, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (billion auto Chevrolet located at 4200 w 12th St, sioux falls, sd 57107; (605) 988-8538) where it was diagnosed that the turbo needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred several other times. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer at least six times where it was diagnosed that the entire engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted and was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 13,000.
I notice a burning oil odor from inside my Trax after the car warms up or in warm weather. Using the air conditioner is out of the question on these 90+ degree days. I plan to get the car in tommorrow to he checked. Between the burning oil under 9500 miles, the bad brakes under 4000 and rollout backwards when at a stop on an incline, worst Chevy, probably last I ever buy.
