The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander. While attempting to close the passenger side door, the alert bell began to ring and the door failed to shut. The contact had to push the button to release the door. Once the door opened, it was finally able to be closed. The vehicle's horn does not work. In addition, the starter is bad. When the contact turns the ignition, the vehicle fails to start. She must depress the accelerator pedal after turning the ignition in order for it to start. The right window remains open when attempting to close it with the overhead button. The dealer has repaired the vehicle, but the failure persists. When making a left turn, the contact hears a noise coming from the suspension. The engine size was unknown. The current mileage is 18,000 and failure mileage was 12. The consumer stated water now leaks into the vehicle when it rains and vehicle is very wet behind 3rd row. Updated 12/12/07

I have had the Chevrolet Uplander in for repair on a rear passenger door that keeps malfunctioning. They have repaired it on several occasions but it is know out of manufacturing warranty. The door has been repaired to the best of gmac ability they can not figure out the problem but the door now will fall shut when on a downhill incline regardless if anyone is in the door. They are suppose to be child safety to keep the door from closing on a child but the door will not stay open when parked a downhill grade. I am really scared the door could close on my children but they tell me that they have repaired it and don't know what is causing the difficulty in the door. I was at a christmas party when the door malfunction and fell shut on me. I am a foster parent in the state of Kentucky and purchased this van so I could have reliable transportation for these children and now I'm not sure when I child could get caught in the door.

: the contact stated while parked, the passenger sliding door opened on its' own. On 10/14/06, the sliding door opened while traveling 25 mph. No injuries were sustained. The sliding door functions correctly sometimes, but opens automatically on occasion. This had occurred 32 times. Two dealers were contacted, and could not duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was contacted, and suggested that the contact should notify the NHTSA.

My daughter was crushed by the automatic door in our Chevy Uplander. She was getting into the vehicle and the door suddenly closed on her. Luckily she only had serious bruising. It turns out that the automatic doors on the Uplander are not equipped with safety features, such as a sensor that would stop the door from closing if someone was still in the doorway. My daughter is 10, what would have happened if it were a younger child?

The rear passenger door of my 2005 Chevy Uplander was open. I started the automatic door (to close). My 22 month old daughter started towards me. I put my hand inside the door to stop her. The door continued to close. I pushed against it with my forearm. The door continued to close, and closed on my hand. My left hand was trapped in the closed door. A part was ordered three months ago, but the door still has not been fixed.
