I was driving on the interstate when the truck just stopped. Had to pull off the road and it would not start back up. Had to have it towed. No one in the Des Moines area works on Dodge Hybrids. Have to take it two hrs away on a trailer to even have it looked at to find out what is wrong.

Aspen 5.7L Hemi Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission

My 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid would not start. This is not a simple 'get help and jump start with cables' problem. The manual states the high voltage battery is used to start the engine - not a simple jump-start. Very few shops are qualified to work on hybrid vehicles. My guess is that the rotation angle of the electric motor in the transmission is at a no-torque position, or that a high voltage SCR is not firing, Neither of which would be easy to test without detailed electrical schematics and programming information, and specialized diagnostic equipment or interface.

On June 2nd my Aspen would not start, I contacted Little Ferry Chrysler in NJ . I advised them that my Aspen Hybrid would not start and they advised me to tow it at my expense. My car was towed on June 2nd and I received a call on June 3rd around 3pm that they do not work on Hybrids. Needless to say I was upset so I drove over to the shop(20miles) and was basically told that there was nothing that they could do for me , in fact they would not help me find a dealership that works on hybrids and they would not reimburse me for the tow nor would they pay from me to get towed to a different dealer.
