Engine in my chrystler Concorde seized up while I was driving it. I had it towed to a dealer and they said it was nothing I did. They said the timing chain slipped causing the motor to spin.

: the contact stated the vehicle stalled while stopped at stop lights and the steering locked. The vehicle eventually failed to start and was towed to an independent repair shop who determined the engine needed to be replaced and was later towed to a service dealer who determined the engine needed to be replaced because of sludge build up. There was no determination of what caused the sludge build up and no warning lights ever illuminated prior to any of the problems. In addition to the oil sludge the dealer also determined one of the pistons was bad.

My Chrysler Concorde(2000) just up and died on the side of the highway a couple of months ago. It was due to oil sludge. We got the oil changed every three thousand miles and it threw a rod. The mechanics said it will take 4000 to fix but I can't afford it. So I have been paying on a car that I can't drive. The car only has about 70000 miles on it. The oil was changed aabout a month before this happened. Nothing has been done to the car because I can't afford it. It lost all power on the highway as my wife drove it and had to be towed.

My 2000 Chrysler concord engine began a loud knocking, after taking it to a mechanic, he informed us that the engine was shot (possibly a rod). I have read "coutless" accounts of this problem. I paid for a year and a half for a car I can not even drive. Why with so many complaints about these engines isn't something being done? something needs to be done, and amends need to be made.

I have a 2000 Chrysler Concorde with a 2.7 engine that is sludged. I have changed my oil properly but do not have but 2 or 3 receipts. I have an extended warranty and that company has denied the claim. I am a realtor and must have a car, this has been a great hardship and when the engine started to go I was on the expressway. The warranty company nor Chrysler is standing behind the product. I have basically been called a liar by the dealership and the warranty company because we don't have receipts. The car is just sitting because I cannot afford a new engine. I have done research and there are a lot of the 2.7 engines that have gone out like mine. Something needs to be done, other companies stand behind their auto products but Chrysler is not. I still owe on the car and have to pay the payment and insurance. Chrysler consumers need help please.

The engine of my 2000 Chrysler concord failed while I was driving the car on October 13, 2004.I have slightly over 60,000 miles on the car and it is 4 1/2 years old. I had the car towed to my dealership. Upon inspection, they stated that they "found engine sludged up causing minimal amount of oil pressure (rod bearings and timing chain bad)" they stated the engine needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $7000 plus tax. The service manager, pete, said that this engine is a continual problem and that they hate to see these cars come in for repair. I had the automobile towed to a private repair shop on October 19,2004 for a second opinion. The repair shop came back with the same issue and a repair estimate of $5400. The repair shop also stated that they have done several of these engine replacements to the Chrysler 2.7L engine. That there engine has a very poor design that leads to sludge pulling into the engine even with regular and timely oil changes. It is a problem of the engineering design of the engine. I have performed the oil changes on the vehicle based on the recommended miles in the owners manual. I still owe about $4800 on a vehicle that does not run due to a manufacturing defect. Chrysler refuses to extend their warrenty. There should be no need to replace such a low mileage engine that has been properly cared for.
