The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Lhs. While turning the vehicle, the steering made a loud noise. The steering failure began in August of 2006. The dealer replaced the steering gear and the rack and pinion. In June of 2008, the steering failure recurred and the noise worsened. The manufacturer took a report and stated that they would not assist with the repairs due to the age of the vehicle. The contact will take the vehicle to another dealer for a diagnosis. She purchased the vehicle brand new and the oil gasket, water pump tension pulley, transmission cooling line clamp, and the water pump were all replaced due to the failure. The failure mileage was 58,337 and current mileage was 77,000.

Today when I started to drive my 2000 Lhs, it would not shift to the highest gear. The RPM's remained very high. The speedometer stays at zero. The overhead instrument panel does not work. The malfunction indicator light comes on and stays on. I proceeded to drive a short distance. When coming to a stop or when slowing around a corner, the oil light comes on and I lose power steering and the engine stalls. I cannot drive the car. I will contact the dealer (bermont motors, gilbertsville, pa) immediately. My 1994 Lhs had total transmission failure and needed a whole new transmission. My car was bought in December 1999 and I only have 37,000 miles on it. Besides this, the molding around one door and around one headlamp is coming off. The black trim is discolored. I am quickly loosing my confidence & dependibility in Chrysler products. I doubt if I will ever buy another Chrysler car.

Transmission is jerky, clunky and noisey from the day car was bought. Transmission is a bit better than my 1994 Lhs which had complete transmission failure that started at 20,000 miles. Chrysler reimbursed me for cost of new transmission.
