Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: Chrysler has taken the boring small car frame of the Neon, grafted a 1930s-era roadster body on top and named it the PT Cruiser. While the new look may appeal to some, the vehicle has unfortunately also inherited many of the same problems as the Neon.

The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler PT CRUISER. The contact stated that the air bag light continues to go on and off and the warning chimes continue to sound. She has taken the vehicle to Chrysler who stated that the failure was caused by the air bag module. She took the vehicle to be serviced at a local gas station and they replaced the component, however, the failure still occurs. The cost to have the air bag module replaced was $300. The contact has not heard from the mechanic since the replacement was made. She stated that the manufacturer will not inspect the vehicle because she took the vehicle to a gas station to be serviced. The powertrain was unknown. The current mileage is 50,000 and failure mileage was 49,000.

My airbag light has come on and the dealer says I need the entire module replaced. Vehicle has never been in an accident or bump of any kind. The module is not covered by the warranty. Why must the entire module be replaced. Isn't there a repair?
