CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.

So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.

If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

I just spent $2800 on a new cradle (the old one rusted out). Two weeks later, the timing belt broke, trashing the motor. Valves hit the pistons. This is bad engineering - I've serviced it every 3000 miles, it was bought new as a lease car with 6000 miles. It sure seems like Chrysler doesn't take care of their customers. I've had Chrysler for 30 years, and that is about to change. My best friend works there, no hard feelings, but Chrysler is at fault.

i bought the vehicle in july 2010 had it only 5 months through financing bought extended warranty which is suppose to cover engine, they are saying that the water pump caused the belt to break which is untrue the vehicle was took in in on regular inspections oil changes and everything. there were no leaks or vehicle never ran hot it just dropped on my way to work and a noise was heard and it never started back bought it at a Honda dealership, 3100 dollars they want me to pay is ridiculous and obserd i bought a lemon and thats all to it what was the purpose of buying the 1800 dollar extended warranty? they still expect me to pay a note. i have been doing my own investigation on this something is not right. the vehicle is still where we towed it at chrysler dealership the warranty people should pay.
