CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.

So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.

If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

I am so distraught that Chrysler has not done anything about this issue yet! All of the lights on the dashboard turn off/on while driving. It all started with my headlights flickering. It got worse, the dome lights started flickering too. Next it was ABS brake lights and I thought Oh I need new tires, replaced them. Now all of the lights on the dashboard, ABS, engine, headlights and every freaking warning light known to man turns off and on when I am driving, parked, even thinking about it, they all flicker!

I thought it was a loose connection, nothing. DEALER thought it was the loose post connections on my battery and that my battery was old. I replaced them. Few weeks later again same issue! Then not trusting the DEALER, I went to an auto shop and they noticed that the Alternator was not keeping the same electrical current, so obviously we replaced the alternator... NOTHING!!

The same problem still yet again!! Nothing is fixing this issue. When fan turns on/off, when AC turns on/off, when I am driving and when parked, they all flicker and now the radio is turning off and on to the point it feels the car is stalling and will turn off any time soon while driving.

This is VERY SCARY!! Chrysler needs to do a recall ASAP before we all get into an serious CAR ACCIDENT! I am going to try to contact them directly about this issue.

I make a few turns in the parking lot, when I get back to the road, I realized my steering wheel locked, brake locked, (suddenly felt so quiet) my engine got shut off? So I couldn't steer, no brake and car slowly glide to stop. Luckily I was driving slow and no pedestrian crossing the road. I push the emergency stall light on to let the cars behind me know. Restart the engine, everything went back to normal, and I drove away normally. Went home, 2 hours later, drove out of parking lot, wheel lock, brake lock and engine shut off by itself for no reason again. This happened to this car 3 times in two years. Mentioned to Crysler machanics, they said they have no clue. It's too bad, I like the luxurious of this car, good sound system, heated seat, seat position record set, comfortable leather seat, well insulated quiet road trip car, electronic lift gate control etc.

While I am driving down the road, for NO apparent reason, and all at the same time: my dash lights/dome lights/head lights will flicker, the ABS brake light on the dash will flash on & off, the warning chime goes off, the stereo cuts in & out, the DVD player shuts off, all while the car loses power & feels like it's bogging down. Even more concerning though, is the fact that the car will stall when stopped... either while it is in park or in drive with my foot on the brake. The stupid car stalled on me on during a red light, on a hill, during rush hour traffic! I had to... put the car in park, throw on the hazards, turn the key to off, and then start it back up... all while trying to wave people around me! It was pretty embarrassing. Whenever the car presents these problems, after I return home & open the car door to get out, I can smell hot wires. I am just waiting for the day that my car just shuts off while I AM driving and causes an accident! I can't take it anymore, so I have made an appointment with the local Battery & Auto Electric shop. I really hope they can find the problem. It's so annoying to drive (and pay good money for) such a nice car only to have it shut off when you're trying to show it off to people! Judging by the other gripes on here, there are other people driving Pacifica's that have encountered the same problems. Hopefully these comments make it to Chrysler and they do something about the problem before someone gets hurt. Hey Chrysler, do a re-call! Is it really worth ignoring and facing the chance of a billion dollar class action suit?

I've had to take my car 15 times whithin the span of 1 year, and they have not fixed this problem!!! Worst of all, the problem escalated! Initially, the inconvenience of intermittent chiming and radio cutting off was the problem. Then recently, while making a right turn, the car stalled and I lost control of the steering wheel and the brakes. We almost got into a head-on collision if the car in the oncoming traffic wasn't paying attention. My daughter had to signal the other car to stop. All my kids were in the car--this really got me mad and prompted me to call the corporate office and DEMANDED that my car be bought back and told them they were going to be liable if my family got into an accident.

Now because the car is out of warranty, they are asking me to pay almost $2,000 to replace the electric harness of the engine because they THINK its the problem. I can no longer trust the competency of this company and will never buy American. I would rather pay an attorney to get what I really need.
