CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.

So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.

If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While accelerating to 5 mph from the idle position, the vehicle completely shut off. The contact restarted the vehicle, but it began to hesitate. The check engine indicator light illuminated prior to the vehicle shutting off. The vehicle was driven home slowly and brought to a dealer the following week. The vehicle has been at the dealer for two weeks. The dealer stated that the vehicle had multiple failures, but no repairs had been made. The vehicle was still waiting to be repaired. The current mileage was 26,525, and failure mileage was 26,435.

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2005 Pacifica AWD. In Nov 06, the vehicle stalled couple of times in the middle of the highway and both times, we were very fortunate to avoid an accident. During the same time, we received a recall notice from Chrysler for the same problem and promptly took it to the warnock East hanover (NJ) dealer (same place where I purchased the vehicle) to fix it. They fixed the stalling recall issue and other minor issues and said that it's drivable now and assured me that it wouldn't happen again. Unfortunately, while I was driving today, it stalled again and nearly averted an accident. It's really scary to drive the vehicle any more. The vehicle has only 6000 miles on it as it has been primarily used to drop my daughter in school. Now, my wife does not want to drive it again as she is scared to death to drive it. I don't blame her as it has stalled three times so far and we cannot even imagine driving this vehicle again with such a humongous safety issue! right now, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and is sitting at the mercy of the dealership as I type this...

: the contact stated while driving 30 mph on normal road conditions, the front passenger side door opened. The door was locked but the door light that signaled the door was open was illuminated. This was the first incident with the vehicle, which also have had an engine that stalled. The engine failure light alerted the contact for the engine problem. The ABS light also alerted the contact for the brakes failure; the sensors were replaced. The dealership had honored the extended warranty but the contact was very upset because of the six times the vehicle had to be taken to the dealership.

Multiple times my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica has stalled for no reason. I can be driving and the car just stalls. I have to put car back into park and turn key off, then I can restart the engine. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and still there seems to be "nothing" wrong with the car.

I own a Chrysler Pacifica 2005. I have had it for almost a year and it has stalled on me 4 times. The first time I was driving on the highway, when it shut off. The wheel locked, radio turned off everything. I had to quickly restart the car to avoid being hit by traffic behind me. The second time I was in a residential neighborhood and it shut while waiting at a red light. I didn't know it shut off until I hit the gas. The third and forth time it has shut off as well while driving in residential neighborhoods this happening this week. All of these times I have had children in the car. I have complained to Chrysler and I was told that because there is no recall there is nothing that could be done to the vehicle. I was advised to take it in to the dealership so that they could look it over. The dealership said that because they can not recreate the problem, they could not fix anything. I explained to them that I it wasn't something I could re-produce. It is something that happens from time to time with no warning. Again they told me as well there was nothing that could be done.

Stall while vehicle moving. It happened multiple times while making left hand turns between April 06 and July 06. We had tsb fix 1803905 in Aug. 06. no problems until October 17, 2006 when it stalled again while driving at slow speed in a straight line. Now every time I drive in straight line or turn in front of cars I am very aware that my car may not be running. It is a very insecure feeling. \ thank you for your time with this matter.

1) I was driving on interstate and exited. Shortly afterwards when driving slowly my car stalled and I lost all control, fortunately, did not have an accident. 2) car stalled when driving slowly, shortly after driving on highway. Lost all control of vehicle. 3) restarted car and everything seemed okay. Now this has happened on 2 separate occasions so I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow to see if they can identify source of problem as this could be very serious if it caused an accident.

: the contact stated while slowing to a stop, the engine seized and stalled without warning. The engine only stalled when the fuel tank was half full. Afterwards, the engine was easily restarted. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem.

My 2005 Chrysler Pacifica fwd 3.6L 24 V. vehicle's gas gauge reads about 1/4 to 1/3 of a tank full, then suddenly drops to empty. With in a few miles of driving the vehicle after this happens the vehicle stalls out. The vehicle has also almost stalled out three other times and has stalled out 5 times now. The vehicle has been serviced twice once the BCM was reset and the second time the leveling units and sending units in the gas tank were replaced. The vehicle has had this occurrence again and the dealership has informed me they will contact me again this coming Monday to resolve the issue, even though the service department informed me that my vehicle is fixed and this problem would not occur again. I have only owned the vehicle for 5 weeks, and it has stalled out 5 times and the gas gauge has suddenly dropped to empty more then five times now, the most recent happening today 8/6/06.

Purchased an 2005 Pacifica June 10th. Was back in the service department 3 days after purchase with check engine light on. Service supposedly repaired problem but after 1 week noticed vehicle misfiring and check engine light back on. Took it back service replaced a part (not sure what) and reset light. As of today this makes my 4th trip to service department with same problem. Check engine light. The mechanic said today it failed the emissions test and he can't figure out why. I left it there and took a rental, but now it kind of feels like I have bought a problem. (check engine light).

Last Sept my wife and I purchased a slightly used 05 Pacifica. One week later my wife experienced the first stall while turning into a parking lot. I contacted the dealer and found that there are thousands of similar complaints and Chrysler would have a solution by Dec 05. We have since had around 7 stalling issues with this model, usually turning at low speed or backing up. After several calls to Chrysler and the dealership, we still have no answers. The dealer is trying to wash their hands of the problem and continues to direct me to the manufacturer. Chrysler will not admit to knowing the problem exists. I have a pregnant wife and a five year old riding in this vehicle and I'm concerned that this stalling problem will occur while driving in traffic and could potentially be harmful to my family.

Driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, I have been dealing with the engine stalling while driving. We have owned the vehicle since Jan 06 and today was the third time this has happened. I was making a left hand turn at a stop light during rush hour traffic. I made the turn when a break in traffic came up. While in the turn the engine stalls leaving the car unsafe in the middle of the intersection. Contacted the chrylser dealership they are unaware of any known problems with the Pacifica engine stalls.

Typical driving pattern/habits, yet when running the 2005 Pacifica AWD model touring edition on the freeway, within 2 miles at 65 mph, the engine/transmission would "shudder", then the engine would partially increase RPM's by 200+ and decrease by 200+ RPM, then act as if the fuel was cut off. I selected the 3 and 4 gears with the shifter to see if it was the transmission, but no difference between those two gears as to the amplification of the problem. The "shuddering" was the same intensity. I had to put my foot on the accelerator pedal to keep the engine running. After pulling off of the freeway and driving back to my home, the engine stalled/stopped at an intersection doing the same 200+/ 200- RPM business. I have taken the vehicle in for this particular problem, where the technicians could not figure out the situation. In discussions with Chrysler(after 1.5 weeks of having the vehicle!!!!), the service manager determined with Chrysler that an injector replacement and an injector cleaning was due for this engine. The wagon has 16,000 miles on it. I believe injectors last well up into the 100,000 mile or 1700 hours of engine time, not 266 hours. At this time the unit is still in the shop for a total of two weeks time.
