I own a 97 Chrysler T & C. it appears that the clockspring in the steering wheel is defective and the mfg states there is not a problem but it could led to a airbag malfunction. It appears this is not covered by a recall which it should be... how many complaints have you received on this"??"

This defect effects air bag and horn at the same time. This is a safety issue. We can not count on the air bag to work nor the horn to function in an emergency. I think its quite unusual that both are not functioning. Thank you for your concern and attention. Ph **dimsii IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**765869

Purchased as used vehicle with the premium warranty offered by dealer. Air bag light remains on, warning horn does not work and cruise control is inoperative. Took the vehicle to Chrysler dealer this morning and seemed to me the other three customers at the counter had the same complaint all echoed my problem. While discussing it another customer "chimed in" I had mine fixed last week- under warranty. Got called 2 hours later to inform me it needed the clock spring replaced to the tune of $227.60. Would like to get all or some of this back and a warranty on repair. **dimsii IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*763547

Consumer received recall campaign id 02V293000 and has made several attempts to have remedy performed to no avail. Currently, the airbag light is illuminated, and horn does not work. Took vehicle in for remedy on 01/16/02 was informed that the service technician was not in and told to return the next day. Consumer called to confirm appointment, and returned on 01/17/02, was told the service technician was currently off site, and would not return until 2pm, and that the part had to be ordered. Consumer was working and had to leave. Spoke with service manager bob murray and attempted to set up an appointment for 01/18/02, but was informed that the service tech does not work on saturdays. Manager also could not confirm appt advising consumer would contact once part arrived. Consumer lives in a rural area and dealer is only option for recall remedy.

My 'air bag' light flickered for a month and then finally stayed on. I discovered my horn did not work, or the cruise control. I replaced the fuses, and the problem continued. I contacted my repair shop and was told other minivans had the same proble. He referred me to the dealer. The dealer was well aware of the problem and told me it was the "clockswitch". it would cost approximately $250 to repair. He informed me that my air bag does not work, in addition to the cruise control and horn. I researched the web and found many others have the same problem. I contacted Chrysler, they claim it is not a defect and not a reall. This should be a recall since over 124,511 of these parts have been replaced, at the owner's expense, and who knows how many vehicles are out there where the operators are unaware their air bag will not deploy. This is a sfety issue!!!!!! please investigate!!!
