Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

problem #3

Oct 302006

Town & Country 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,200 miles

: the contact stated while traveling at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, it had to be pumped to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence, and then towed to the dealership. The master cylinder was replaced. Two and a half years later the problem returned and the master cylinder was replaced a second time. Updated 1/31/2007 - three days after the master cylinder was repaired, the problem recurred. The problem was found to be some type of faulty control unit. To date, 12/30/2007, there haven't been anymore problems.

: the contact stated while driving at no particular speed, the brake pedal was depressed to slow the vehicle down; however it did not slow down. The brake pedal was pumped several times to get the vehicle to slow down enough to pull the vehicle to the side of the road. It was then restarted and taken to the dealer for inspection. They replaced the calipers and the master cylinder. The vehicle has the same problems although those changes were made. The vehicle is currently at the dealership undergoing additional testing.
