Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

CarComplaints.com Notes: What the heck happened here? A year after getting our "seal of pretty good" for the 2004, Chrysler turns around and delivers this crapwagon.

This minivan has problems ranging from rack and pinion steering failure to door locks that won't let you out. And trust me, you'll want to get out.

I purchased a Chrysler Town & Country in 2005. Since then, I have been in to have electric components throughout the van fixed on average, 1-2 per month. The electric system is breaking down piece by piece. Starting with the electric locks (within the first month and they were fixed twice), the ac (a recall), the entire heat assembly in the rear (I was in multiple times for this one), the passenger air bag harness, the oil sensor, and now the drivers' side airbag is needing to be repaired. All of these issues were electric. I have been in under their warranty to have all of these issues fixed, but I continue to have electric issues. My fear is that, considering that the vehicle has extensive electric controls, that something major is about to break. With only a thirty six thousand mile warranty, which is about up, and still problems, they (the Chrysler Corp.) say there is nothing they can do for me.

- the contact stated that her 2005 Town & Country van stalled while driving. While driving at any speed in any weather conditions the vehicle stalled, and she had to pull to the side of the road to get the vehicle to start again. The contact took the vehicle the vehicle to dealership to repair the gas gauge which didn't register the correct amount of fuel. The gauge sometimes read full when the vehiclewas low on fuel. Occasionally while driving the radio will change channels on its own or get static. The contact stated that the dealership could not find anything wrong that caused the vehicle to stall. The contact called manufacture R, and filed complaint 15906958.

2005 Chrysler town and country mini van the consumer purchased new on June 17, 2005 and it caught on fire. On August 8,2005 smelled something coming from the engine. Opened the hood and there was a fire in the air filter/air conditioner area. Called 911, they came out and checked, but the fire was already out by the time they got there. The fire chief was unable to determine the cause of the fire. Vehicle was towed to a Chrysler dealer. After 1 week the car dealer told the consumer that the vehicle had to be inspected by an independent investigator that Chrysler employed. After he investigated the vehicle he was unable to determine the cause of the fire. Chrysler gave no explanation, only that they were going to pay off the vehicle, and they would reimbursed. Consumer for any down payment and any payment made since then. The consumer reported this insurance company. According to Chrysler they were treating the transaction as if it had never occurred.

The consumer stated the vehicle stalled three times. The service dealer repaired a loose ground wire and replaced the PCM. Dealer was not able to duplicate the problem so the vehicle could not be repaired. Because the dealer was not able to duplicate the problem they were not having the Chrysler engineering department to look at the vehicle. Consumer had an opinion that the problem was within the automatic shutdown relay.
