Driving down gravel drive at about 15mph, van stalled, esp light displayed, no power steering, no gas. Turned van off, restarted, drove fine. Win ignition module replaced in May 2016. Didn't have problems with inability to start or with van stalling until this was replaced.

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler Town and country. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the egr valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who confirmed that the egr valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired multiple times; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 80,000.

While driving usually at low speeds (20 mph or less) the car shuts off, the steering and brakes lock when this happens. It seems to happen the most when I am coasting around a curve or coming up to a stop. This has happened recently while driving over 35 mph. I have had both of the recall repairs done but this is still happening at an increasing rate. It began in June and would occur once every couple of weeks now it happens every day.

Our 2009 T&C stalled in city traffic this morning without any warning when slowing down to below 20-30 mph (with the traction control light briefly illuminating after the stall). It had stalled previously 3 separate times in similar situations when either my wife or son were driving the van. Of course when the engine dies there is no power steering or power brakes which makes handling the vehicle extremely difficult. The van immediately restarts when you turn the ignition key, but the cel does not light up so there are no codes in the computer to help diagnose the problem. This is a serious problem that lots of people are having. Just read the blogs on the internet. If the van stalls while making a turn and you can't brake or steer, then it's just a matter of time before a potentially serious accident occurs. As far as I know there are no open recalls on the van (ignition recall already taken care of). The weather was nice and streets were dry.

My engine has shut down on me four times in the last two months. I took it to the dealer twice. First time, replaced ABS. Paid over $2200, still same problem. Second time, no error code but charged me $130 to clean the throttle linkage, still the same problem. My wife and I are scared to drive it. I did a search and found someone with the exact same problem (see below). Can you offer me (or the dealer) any advice on how this can be fixed? engine shuts down during low speed operation. Problem occurs particularly when driving at speeds of 10-20 mph under certain conditions such as controlling speed in speed zones, negotiating moderate gradients--down hill or uphill, turning into lane, and in traffic. We have experienced the problem on city and Suburban streets and in parking lots. Problem has occurred when the car is cold or warm. There is no warning prior to the shutdown other than loss of power and associated ensuing problems: Difficulty steering and braking due to loss of power; dash warning symbols/lights turn on, beginning with the traction control symbol. When we first experienced this problem last winter (2015), Chrysler changed the ignition switch; however, the problem has reemerged with increased frequency over the last 30-60 days. Our local Chrysler dealer has not identified the cause and cannot detect a code during testing. In January 2016, our dealer performed a tune up (hoping to resolve the problem) but the problem persists and occurs at a frequency of 1 in 2-6 operations. (www.carcomplaints.com/Chrysler/town_country/2010/engine/engine_stalls_shuts_down_while_driving.shtml ). this is a safety issue which is causing considerable stress since we cannot fix or preclude these occurrences. - fort Washington, md, usa

While driving down highway at about 60 mph with wife and 3 children, suddenly with no warning, all power to vehicle was completely lost. This made it very difficult to safely move vehicle to shoulder. If traffic would have been heavy this could have caused a serious accident. Once vehicle was parked it would not restart and had to be towed 20 miles to dealer. Once at dealer electrical system seemed to fail further. Power windows, locks and doors would no longer work. Clearly some sort of serious electrical problem this is the 4th time something like this happened, but with the previous incidents the car always started once it was stopped and put into park and key was turned.

Car is dangerous! engine has stalled repeatedly when in motion. Has been in for corrections three times with no improvement. Re. L25/NHTSA 14V-373 recall, fobik was replaced by ziegler in mich.--followed by more stalling, subsequently by phillips in Florida (also replaced wyn/fobc module--9dec15)--followed by more stalling, subsequently phillips updated PCM & tipm--5feb16, car stalled next day and then again the day after. Stalling usually occurs within a mile after starting the engine. Can then turn off the ignition key and restart the engine. Usually the engine then runs without stalling. Regarding "when did this happen?" stalling has occurred most recently several times in December, 2015 and several times in January and February, 2016. I wonder if the problem might not be the wireless ignition node module detents, but possibly the fuel shut-off float which is a problem with my 2005 Chrysler Town and country--just a thought that may be irrelevant to the problem with my 2009 T & C.

Our car passed the Maryland emissions test in January 2016. Current mileage is 96,342 miles. I reported the problem to Chrysler Corp., which has a case file open #28712527. In addition, I have researched the problem online and have found numerous reports of similar events with the Town & Country with mostly unfavorable outcomes because Chrysler cannot detect a malfunction code during test. (www.carcomplaints.com/Chrysler/town_country/2010/engine/engine_stalls_shuts_down_while_driving.shtml ). this is a safety issue which is causing considerable stress since we cannot fix or preclude these occurrences.

Recently purchased vehicle used (dealership filled with fuel after test drive but before we took it home). On the way home on city streets (while approaching an intersection), the engine stalled causing loss of power brakes & power steering. After putting the car in park, it started up & ran fine. A couple days later, my wife was driving it & while turning right at an intersection it did the same thing. She barely was able to safely complete the turn due to the loss of power steering. After that incident it hasn't happened again (but we haven't filled it with fuel again yet). Research on the net leads me to think it is the common problem with a valve in the fuel tank. We are very nervous driving the car & are dreading our next fill up. This is incredibly unsafe & I hope Chrysler is willing to do something about it.

When we bought the vehicle (at around 80K miles) we noticed that you could smell coolant at times, but were told it was nothing. When we took it in for service we were told that it was 2 quarts low on oil. I asked the shop that did the first oil change, thinking maybe they didn't do a proper job- he mentioned that this was a common issue with this year of Town & Country. I took it in for a recall- a good friend wanted to perform an oil consumption test. Come to find out, it was burning oil at a rapid rate. If I hadn't been aware & checking the oil on almost a daily basis, it could have run out & the engine seized. The burning oil causes issues with the rings as well.

Notice loud clunking noise shift from park to drive, or park to reverse. Not every time, but often enough. Also shift to/from to her gears is noticeable and gives the feel of hesitation. This is most often noticed around 37 mph or 30 mph. Went is cold the car act up. It is having troubles also getting hot the engine and I have the car for 5 month and I had to fill the coolant twice. I brought the car 5 time to the place where I bought the car 4 times to report the problem with the transmission they send me to one of the Chrysler dealer for service and did not show nothing on the diagnosis. I am frustrated because I research online iand I am not the only one complaining about the same problem. Aslo the suspension feels very weak.

I have a problem with my 2009 Chrysler Town and country it has a 3.8 L V6 engine and a 6-speed automatic. Just recently it just stop as I was driving. I had just went thru a green light and just as I got up to about 30mph the engine just stop the only light that came on was the (ESC) light goes on, and then power steering fails breaks do not respond. The dealer checked it the next day there were no cods set. Except a rear ac mix door had a problem and a ABS code. Back in may I had a problem starting it acted as if I had a dead batter, the batter and starter tested okay then in June there was a R03 safety recall for the wireless ignition module which was replaced. There are about 37,000 miles on the car.

Backing out of our driveway, the engine unexpectedly shut off. Found out this is related to the R03/L25 recalls. Wife now refuses to drive the van. It was reported, but no action has been taken by Chrysler to date. It is part of the recall so we have been on the waiting list since June. Still waiting to be seen by the Chrysler dealership. I wish the Town and country is part of the Chrysler buy back program. I don't want to own a vehicle from a company that doesn't respond appropriately to their recall (especially for owners who experienced the symptom of the recall). They probably rather pay the big fine to the government and resultant insurance claims. Please help!
