Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

I tried starting my 2010 Town and country van after leaving the store and it would not turn over. All electrical devices were operable. I called aaa and they found nothing wrong with it. The aaa driver suggested that it may be the security system. I waited another 20 minutes and the van started right up. The same thing happened again in July of this year. I took my van to the Chrysler dealer for an oil change. I told the service department about my van not starting and asked them to change the battery in case it had a bad cell. After the oil and battery was changed I left the dealership and noticed they did not put air in the tires so I returned. The van would not start after they were done. They told me that my starter brushes were bad and that I needed an new starter. On August 25th 2010 730pm my van would not start; I tried again at 735pm and it started with no problem.

The car will not start - all electrical is operative. Battery and starter are functional. Then after multiple tries, the car will start. Also noted, with the key in the ignition and door open, no warning bell until you jiggle the plastic fob and then the door open chime comes on. There are thousands of complaints on-line of this issue and the manufacturer fanes ignorance and performs needless replacements of other parts and then charges $1,000+ for a repair that is still unproven to take care of the problem. There have been other recalls with the ignition switch/fob and are only on certain vehicles, this seems to be related but ignored

We have been advised by our mechanic that our total integrated power module (tipm) needs to be replaced. We took our car in for a diagnostic check after the headlights would not come on -- even after checking/replacing fuses, replacing headlight bulbs, and installing a new headlight switch. The mechanic advised us that their diagnostic check revealed an error code from the tipm. They reset the code, and the headlights became functional again, but they were uncertain how long the fix would last (it only lasted that afternoon). As a result, they recommended replacing the tipm. (expected repair costs: $1600, plus about $200 in replacement headlight bulb and switch costs.) the same evening (of the diagnostic service, above), the headlights failed again at nighttime. We were forced to drive home from a professional sporting event (about 6 miles) on city streets in the dark (no headlights), with only hazard lights flashing the whole way. Note: Prior to the headlight failure, the radio also died (following an audible electric "pop" (short?) while we were driving.) diagnostic and replacement fees on that electrical system-related fix cost us an additional $600.

While driving or stopped, the entire dash cluster flashes all the lights, the wipers randomly go on and off, the headlights go on and off, the gas gauge goes to "E", the tachometer goes to zero. This has happened several times and we have taken it in to our local chrystler dealership roughly 8 months ago only for them to say nothing is wrong. When it happened again, we took it to a local repair shop that said the same thing. This electrical fault won't show up on their "plug-in" analyzer. I have researched this for months and there are posts all over the internet from others who are having the same issue. There is even a video taken from someone while driving to prove this. I have called chrystler llc 3 times in the past 2 days. Finally today, a supervisor called me and said there is nothing wrong with my van and they won't do anything to assist. I also noticed a class action lawsuit from numerous states on this issue under tipm7. I have contacted a lawyer and plan to file a lawsuit myself since this $24K vehicle is not safe to drive. I will not allow my wife to drive it in fear her or our children may be injured. This issue have been identified since 2009 yet there is no recall? I am willing to bet they know about this unsafe issue but chose to do nothing. I would appreciate any assistance you may offer in this matter.
