My 2014 Dodge Avenger started beeping while driving down the road for no reason. The locks would flick up and down. I drove about 2 miles with a constant horn blaring on the way to dealer to get it fixed. It was a faulty computer module, which I was given no choice but to repair it, as it more or less ran the whole car. The mechanic said I could be driving down the road and the car can just stop, brakes could go, as it controls everything. I called Chrysler, as there is a recall on this part for a lot of cars, but not mine. Nothing was covered. I paid in full, of course.

I purchased the "full coverage" warranty on my car for an addional $3k added to my car payment. I purchased the vehicle in November 2016. It's been in the shop 5 times, all for this issue...just never threw a code and they couldn't figure it out. This time, it actually threw the code for the TIPM. I was told this is NOT covered under the engine warranty because it's considered electrical. HOWEVER, my damn car won't run, start, anything without it!!! Then, I go online and see multiple issues with this component on my vehicle. The dealer, nor the finance company, will do anything to help. So $1540.60 later, my car is being fixed...only to be told by the mechanic that this could happen again because this part on this car goes out frequently. This is GARBAGE!!!

Update from May 8, 2018: 1540.00 to replace the part!!

I have a 2014 Dodge Avenger, bought used a year ago. Suddenly, the horn will go off while driving for no reason, sometimes blaring nonstop, sometimes just honking as if it sees someone and wants to say hello. Funny at first, but as I'm driving down the highway with it blaring, not funny. I took it to the dealer for the recall on the airbags, and asked them to check it for the horn problem. I was told it needed a new TIPM, which is roughly 850 dollars. All this, for a horn blowing? I see there was a lawsuit that included some Dodges, but not the Avenger. I was wondering if I'm missing something and is there some way to get Dodge to pay for this? Is there someone to call?

Again, my 2014 Dodge Avenger has a faulty TIPM. This has caused my car to lose all power including engine stalling, power steering loss, and loss of lights while driving on a highway at night. Once it happened while I was turning through a busy intersection! Now it has caused my windshield wipers to stop working. This is a huge safety issue. Chrysler and Dodge have known about this recurring problem for years and have tried to ignore, deny, even cover it up with no recall. They've been sued for it once already and looking to get sued a second time over this. They have refused to fix this issue and have charged owners thousands of dollars. It's a $1000 part! They still haven't recalled this yet! This problem has plagued thousands of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, Ram, etc owners hundreds of thousands of dollars in repairs and damages and caused major after risks sue to this issue. This is unacceptable. I'm done with Chrysler after this.
