The car engines lights came on while driving the electric throttle body light and ecs lights came on. The car is losing oil and overheating while driving. I took the car to a shop and they found an oil leak but don't know exactly where the oil leak is coming from. Oil is spilling all over the transmission. I contacted Dodge since the car has 89,000 miles on it and they ignored the problem. The car sputters in the middle of intersection it drives at 2000 rpms without gas pedal being press. The brakes depress on their own. Why is there no investigation done on these Dodge Avengers. Do someone have to lose their life in order to fix these issues?

The heater core is working and the bend door actuators are working but the heat only works on the driver side and not the passenger side. I've seen many forums of people saying the same things about 2012-2014 models. This seems to be a big issue with this car. It is winter now and only half the heat works, as well as only half the defroster as well. The car only has 105K miles on it and I've had no issues till this and other recalls. Dodge should recall these as it's a issue with many Avenger models. The vehicle does it just idling in a park spot or driving. Not sure if it's defective actuator bending doors or the heater core itself?! plz look further into this and hopefully this issue can be considered for a recall.

I own a 2014 Dodge Avenger in which only cold air comes out on the passenger side. I took the car to the dealer and they told me what I had expected all along, a clogged heater core. I have done a lot of research on this and found out Dodge is and was well aware of this manufacturing defect. Clogged heater core because of faulty flushing of the water jackets on the V6 engine. I am very limited on driving my car in the winter because my windshield will not defrost on the passenger side, which is a hazard. This fault is not because of misuse of the vehicle but a manufacturing fault of Dodge. Guess what, they will do nothing about it. This is a safety issue that should be corrected by the manufacturer and not by the consumer. If Dodge knew of this defect and the consumer wasn't notified isn't it fraud. I need help..

On June 28, 2019 around 5:15pm central time, I was on the highway 60 mph driving home from work and heard a loud noise around my head area, after stopping to check what made the noise I noticed my driver side head rest had ejected, I checked for a recall for the head rese and nothing was noted about it.

The heater core got clogged around 50,000 miles, which causes heat to come out of only one vent and cold air out of the rest. Extended warranty will not cover it since the part is not malfunctioning it's just clogged. Seems to be a pretty common problem and the manufacturing company will not do anything about it either. So it leaves you with about $1000 fix

The passenger side of my Avenger is blowing nothing but cold air. The heater and defrost on the drivers side works great. In winter driving the passenger side window will not defrost and this causes a very dangerous situation. I have read where many others have had the same problem and Chrysler Corp. Will do nothing about it. I believe it has something to do with debris coming from the water jackets around the engine. It is not the blender door as I have had it checked. Flushing or replacing the heater core is probably not an option since it will just clog the heater core again and this is very expensive. Until enough people complain this will just keep happening until Dodge figures out how they can fix it permanently. This is dangerous in winter weather and it is a mystery, after spending 100's of dollars on a car you should expect to get what you paid for.

Exploding headrest!! I am sure your organization is aware of this safety hazard (google-Dodge Avenger exploding headrest). The front passenger headrest blew apart while I was driving on a city street. Please note that the headrest ejects forward into the back of your head. Safety hazard"?? hell yes! I don't want to be driving when the drivers side explodes and causes me to lose control, or knocks me out! the Dodge dealership said they see this frequently and had no concern except to ask for $150 for a diagnostic fee and quote $700 to fix it. Are you serious? this is a Dodge problem not a consumer problem. I need help and answers! how can this not be a serious safety hazard. My mechanic wont't touch the headrest because of possible involvement with other systems. Do you really want consumers trying to fix the problem themselves and potentially causing more serious safety system issues with their vehicles and then driving them on the roads and highways" at my quoted price of $850, you can bet consumers will resort to self help. Someone needs to have a word with Dodge, this manufacturing defect has the potential to cause fatalities.

"takata recall" I got a letter for a safety recall on my 2014 Dodge Avenger SXT for safety recall #61/ NHTSA 16V-668 - occupant restraint controller. Everything was going fine until June 1st when all sudden when driving my air bag icon would flash on and off. Tried bring it back to local dealership that had fixed the recall saying something was wrong and that I had just brought the car in not long ago for a recall. They looked it up and seen that I was just in but wouldn't just look at car for the issue.

6.1.17 at roughly 7:50am, my 2014 Dodge Avenger LX with rallye package completely shutoff while doing highway speeds - 70mph cruise, flat land. Power steering was gone and thankfully no other cars were on the road. I placed the car in neutral and was able to get it started to continue on my way to work. Over the past year, we've experienced numerous issues such as: Random accelerations without cause, dummy lights flashing or coming on and then disappearing on their own, acceleration issues where car will not go over 40, etc. Issues have not been able to be replicated and has not been brought to the dealership for that purpose as I had a friend experience the same and the dealership told her they couldn't recreate so there was no issue. I have contacted my dealership and have an appointment for 6.5.17, and I have also contacted Chrysler regarding the issue so they can get a case manager assigned. I no longer feel safe driving myself or my children in this vehicle, as I have found several have experienced the issue without remedy.

Shifting has become a major issue have to use a pen or knife to put pressure on a switch to shift out of park. Was told by local Dodge dealer it is a issue with the challenger but not this model. They are the same shifter. Also the light that illuminates the shifter started to catch fire but I was able remove before fire ignited. I saw the smoke and smelled electrical burning. Luckily that started right before I went to struggle and put in drive. To even get it to losses up to drive you almost have to slam the shifter up and down rapidly and somewhat rough to even loosen it up to give a week or 2 of it not causing problems. Was told by local dealer not covered under warranty and it would be around 800 to fix.

I was in a car accident as of March, I had front damage hit pretty hard at least the passenger air bag should have deployed but after I got my car back it started cutting off for no reason. I took it back to auto shop that fixed it when the check engine light came on due to revving up between the 3 and 5 RPM and barely moving the lightest touch it would stay stuck between those even slowing down to less 25 mph as soon as step on the gas it will shoot right back up between 3 and 5 RPM and rev.. I would have to pull over turn my car off and turn the key really hard to turn on and it would go back regular. My car randomly cuts off when stopped at lights or when coming to a stop. If I am in reverse and start to back up it stalls, jerks then cuts off. The dealership and auto shop are not finding anything "wrong" with it. Unknown of what paticular system this is I was told fuel line but I think its the engine the check engine light will come on and then go back. It is happening on and off and no one will look at it unless im paying out of pocket this started happening around 30,000 miles.

The brakes suddenly failed. I was able to stop the car by standing on the brakes. I if I had been in traffic I would have crashed. The engine was shaking very hard and it would not accelerate to get it off the road. Two lights came on. The electronic throttle control and the one that shows a picture of a car on a slippery road. The next day the lights were off and it behaved normally. Then it reoccurred. I am taking it to a dealer but sudden loss of braking is unacceptable and from what I read on the internet a lot of people have had this same issue.

I have a 2014 Dodge Avenger and on October 17 I fueled at the station and proceeded to travel on my way home. When I stopped at the light my son and his friend were talking. The light changed and I tried to go the car wouldn't go. It had shut itself off. Prior to this my son and I were going down the interstate and we could here a screeching whistling sound coming from the front of the car. Later that day the radio changed stations by itself. The changing of the station happened again on October 18 with me and my wife in the car. This prompted me to look into the recall factor and I found more complaints of the same type. If there is a problem someone needs to address it now before there is an accident and someone gets seriously hurt or dies. My situation could have been bad because people were expecting my car to start moving and I had no idea it wouldn't, and I was on an uphill incline. Please look into these problems and get some info out to the public.
