CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

Caliber SE 2.2L

  • CVT transmission
  • 300 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Ever since purchasing this 2007 caliber, Ive had issues with it. ABS sucks, the rims bend in minor potholes, the CVT trans can get you killed because it never accelerates the same...the car has very little power at take off, the mileage sucks, the tires go bald prematurely because I make left hand turns.....I wish a tree would fall on it.

Caliber SXT 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 31,069 miles

After owning the car for two years the CVT has started to heat up while driving on steep roads, it has done it 4 times now, I will take it to the dealer for a check up but as with the previous problems I had (The check engine has been lit since new and every time they turn it off just comes on again after few minutes of driving, while trying to fix this they some how disabled the inside light and the lock button) I don't expect much of a solution for this, I will get rid of the car as soon as I can before it gets any worse.

Caliber

  • CVT transmission
  • 80,000 miles

My 2007 Caliber has issues with the transmission hesitating and overheating. No one will work on CVT transmissions. Dealer can't say for sure what is wrong and now they want $800 just to replace the cooling unit, change filter and fluid. This car is not that old to be having this serious of a problem... regular maintenance has been done..problem anyway.
