The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated. The vehicle's failure began to occur within approximately 2 minutes of starting the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (mountain valley motors, Inc. 7535 appalachian hwy, blue ridge, ga 30513; (706) 516-1053) who informed them that the check valve failed and needed to be replaced, therefore, the entire tank needed to be replaced due to where the valve was located. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case number. The manufacturer informed the contact that their vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

After using cruise control could not push gas pedal down, seems to be happening more often, van has 89,000 miles, started at 49,000 miles, cleaned throttle body many times does not help, I think faulty cruise. Control from factory. Purchased 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT in 2008.

While driving my 2005 Dodge Caravan the gas pedal became "stuck". this has happened in the past ( I have owned the vehicle for about 3 yrs.) this time though it took longer to "unstick" it. Usually if I press harder on the pedal it will start working normally again. This time it didn't budge and took several attempts to get it functioning again.

Gas pedal sticks. Sticks every so often-20 times or so at lights, on highways, etc. Was told erg valve replacement might have affected this. 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Consequences include stomping gas pedal to speed up when in traffic.

Please be advised that we have had a peculiar & occasional acceleration problem with our 2005 Dodge Caravan with 63,000 miles, we were unable to accelerate on several occasions such as trying to pass in traffic, and/or trying to start up from a stop at a traffic light. The throttle felt blocked and the foot pedal would not move until stomped on several times. This failure to accelerate could cause a head on collision when trying to pass another vehicle, or a rear end collision when trying to start moving from a stop. The servicing dealer, lithia Dodge & Chrysler in santa rosa, ca reported that they found heavy combustion deposits on the inside of the throttle body they believed could block the throttle plate from moving properly. They cleaned the throttle body and we have operated without a problem for about 2 months. This problem was reported to Chrysler service and they suggested we also report the problem to NHTSA. My wife was on the highway passing another car when the accelerator pedal of her 2005 Dodge Caravan SE suddenly dropped to the floor. She barely got off the road without causing an accident and was sure if it would have happened on a busier highway she would have caused an accident. She was stranded along the highway for two hours waiting for help. She was towed to a Dodge dealer who told her the little plastic retainer which secures the throttle cable going from the accelerator to the engine had broke and they consequently fixed it. It is part#4287736 retainer. After looking at this little plastic retainer I feel it is a safety hazard and should be redesigned and made out of steel or something that won't break as easily. I think it should be investigated as a safety hazard.
