I purchased monroe econo-matic strut assemblies in Feb 2013 from rock auto. I installed them in March on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The right one started making a loud clunking noise about one month later. I found out the warranty is only 30 days through rock auto. When I checked monroe's sight, I found they don't have a warranty at all. I sent a email to their customer support but they never responded. I searched online for complaints about monroe struts and was stunned to find so many. I think this needs to be investigated. I would be glad to send my broken strut to be tested. I don't believe monroe struts are safe and the public needs to know.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The contact was traveling 25 mph around a curve when the front driver side wheel detached from the vehicle and caused the contact crash into a wall in a parking lot. A tow truck driver was called and advised the contact that the ball joint failed. The dealer replaced the tie rod in the wheel well to repair the vehicle. The contact stated that other parts failed because of rust, but did not know what exact parts had failed. The contact stated that he wanted to submit the part the NHTSA investigators for further examination. The failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 41,000.

Car pulls to the right as if one of the calipers is hanging up has been to 3 different dealers for same issue now the 3rd dealer claims the tires need to be rotated (vehicle only has 11,000 miles) and an alignment of which the warranty will not cover at this point as per representative of Dodge corporate office this is a "maintenance issue such as an oil change" yet this vehicle has had the same issue from day one! not to mention have already had to replace one tire on the right passenger side and the tire on that side is wearing on the outside as well. Vehicle was also brought in for the ABS light staying on.

The consumer stated that the vehicle was pulling to the right when driving between 5-35 mph along with a clanking sound coming from the steering area. The dealers service department replaced the outer tie rod because it was loose. The vehicle no longer pulled to the right but the clanking noise continued. (12/08/05) the components affected were the right tie rod, sway eliminator links, bushings and nuts.
