Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Poor brake system on the Dodge daytona rt 2006. My vehicle only has 27,000 miles on it and my rear and front rotors are shot. I have replaced the brake pads once already. Dodge is saying that this is "common" and is not taking responsibility for this. To have this fixed will be approx $700. This appears to be a problem with several buyers of this vehicle. I have reviewed messages on with people complaining about the same problems and Dodge does nothing about this issue.

First as everyone else has experienced the brakes started to squeal. Then around 30,000 miles when brakes were applied at speed around 60 mph the steering wheel began to vibrate. Later followed by extreme motion in the wheel from left to right and eventually the brakes began to cease during acceleration. Had the rotor resurfaced and new pads. 8,000 miles later steering wheel doing the same thing and when I took it to the dealership they said my tires were bad and nothing wrong with the brakes. I find this hard to believe as the exact same problem happened before ending up with a bill around $1,000. So now I am waiting for the breaks to get so bad that they will actually service the problem. I am so disgusted with this and don't know what course of action to take.

Squeaky brakes/rotors I have been reading for the last several months about 2006 daytona R/T owners complaining about squeaky brakes. I too have suffered from this problem. I bought my gmg daytona in may of 2006. My brakes started to squeak in August 2006. I brought my car in three times to have this problem rectified. Each time I received answers from the dealer similar to the ones I have read here. Finally I was forced to write a letter to the dealer. "January 8, 2008 I received a quick reply and the vice president of T he dealership agreed to look at the problem. They replaced my rear brake pads and rotors. On the way home from the dealership the brakes began squeaking as bad as before. I was quite dismayed. I telephoned the vp of the dealership, whose reply was basically "we did what we can, we changed your brakes, their as good as new, and if the squeak, well then that's what they'll do, and we are basically done with this...". I find this totally unsatisfactory. Good luck selling a $25,000 car with screaming brakes. I have thought of invoking the lemon law, as even though the car is safe, the brake issue could severely impact my resale value. I have finally broken down and bought hawk ceramic pads which I'm going to have installed. This to me does not seem the way this issue should be solved. I don't buy the "hi-po" brake sell that we are getting from Dodge. I think the pads are substandard, and perhaps so are the rotors. This should not be the case on a car for which I paid $32,000. I love the car, and would hate to have to ditch it because of the brakes.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. While driving between 2-60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle would not stop. The contact normally places the vehicle in park or applies the emergency brake. All of the warning indicator lights would illuminate, except the check engine light. The dealer replaced the wheel sensor, but the failure continued. The failure mileage was 8,372 and current mileage was 13,000.

Brakes squeal when pressure is first applied to pedal. Off and on since I bought the car last year. Called dealership and was told that this was common and that some cars do this all the time, it's normal.

2006 Dodge Charger SE brakes squealing on turns and during stops. Rotors showing no macroscopic signs of wear. Several owners with same model as well as upgraded models, have noticed similar situations at extremely low miles. Brake return spring is also making noise when peddle is depressed and returns to original position.

: the contact stated while entering traffic at 35 mph, the brake pedal was applied and the vehicle did not slow down. The vehicle was downshifted to second, and then first gear. At the next exit, the vehicle came to a stop on an incline. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed flames coming out of the brake well on the front passenger side. The vehicle was coasted into an independent repair shop, who determined the ABS failed and all four brakes were white hot. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, but no report was given.

The consumer states while driving at 40 mph the ABS failed to activate. The vehicle skidded off the road and into several trees. Upon impact, the frontal and side/curtain airbags failed to deploy. The contact felt it was a traction control problem. The ABS failed once before. There have been no repairs made at this time. Updated 12/07/05.
