Charger

After filling up with fuel my Charger will stall. It has happened 5 or 6 separate occasions over the past 2 years. I generally do not fill the car up all the way because of this. However just today I had the same problem after accidentally filling it. I do not top off the car when filling once the nozzle clicks off I stop. Today after getting gas I went to pull out into traffic and the car stalled. The power steering would not work the engine shut off and I was stranded halfway out into the lane of oncoming traffic. I put the car in park and restarted it and drove about 20 feet before it shut off again. This is a huge safety issue. I thought I was going to be hit. I did manage to get the car home which is about two miles away but I had to restart it four more times. I've got roughly 80,000 miles on the car I have always kept up with maintenance and with any repairs that needed to be done. I searched online to see if there was a recall for this problem but there doesn't seem to be even though a lot of people seem to be having the same problem not only with the Chargers but with three hundreds as well

My son's car caught fire after he had parked it for the night. After 10 minutes he was called at his apartment by a friend who told him his car was on fire. There were no warning signs whatsoever. No warning lights, unusual smells, or hints of impending doom for his car.

The car will shut off randomly, the error code keeps pointing back to the ECM and I have had that replaced now it is doing it again and there is no warning when it happens on the freeway it jolts like it wants to shutoff but it doesn't the RPM's go down and it revs back up, it started just with it having the RPM's go down and rev back up randomly and its been happening for 2 years now it just shuts off and starts back up immediately but sometimes ill drive a couple feet and it will die again. It has been in and out of the shop for the last 8 months. They have sent the computer back to have it analysed and to repair the new one I got now. When driving it also shuts off and then just starts up back by itself. I see this everywhere on the internet and forums, some say ECM needs to be replaced other say the fuel tank and the other says something about the key fob not recognizing the key. I want this investigated and a recall to be issued. From everyone I have spoken to every single 2006 Dodge Charger has this problem with the 5.7 lt with the hemi.

Transmission and car computer are not working together properly, making the transmission shut off as I drive the car. Can happen at a red light, in the highway, even when it's parked. Brought it to several mechanics no one could fix it. Called the dealership and they claim no open recall but yet the car only has 89K miles. Was built wrong off the line if you ask me.

There is something going on with the electrical system which causes the instrument cluster to completely shut down and lights to flicker when driving. Usually happens when car heater is on or driving for a long period of time. I have a video of the issue and showed it to cerritos Dodge service department but they didnt acknowledge issue.

The occupant classification system was defective and failed to recognize a passenger was seated in the front seat during a crash. As a result, the passenger's airbag failed to deploy in a severe frontal impact collision. The vehicle was involved in a severe, direct frontal impact with another vehicle while traveling at highway speeds. The impact was severe, deformed frame rails and was directly frontal. The driver's airbag deployed, but the passenger airbag failed to deploy. The passenger, an adult female, was belted but her head hit the dash in the area of the airbag flap and she suffered fatal head injuries. The ECM was downloaded and revealed the occupant classification system had failed to recognize a passenger was in the front seat at the time of the crash. The eprom data read "front passenger occupant class: Undetermined" even though an adult female was seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash. Investigation revealed that TRW automotive U.S. llc and kelsey-hayes company are the suppliers responsible for the occupant classification system and related parts that failed. The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that there were several failures that progressed within months of owning the vehicle. The vehicle stalled several times and the instrument panel warning indicators and gauges flickered. When there was a loss of power, the doors would automatically lock and were unable to open. In addition, the brakes failed to function properly when applied. An unknown dealer replaced the brakes and the pinion pins twice due to the wheels on the driver's side being affected due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and the contact was waiting to determine if there was an option to trade in or buy back the vehicle. The failure mileage was not available.

My car's engine stalls without warning while driving. I had problems with this when I bought the car within the same week from a used car dealer. It now affects my headlights by making them flash on and off while driving. The car has been in and out of the shop for the past year and no one can seem to find the issue. There is a past time device installed which interfered with the security system. The dealership took out the security system and shortly thereafter the engine stalls began. Engine stalls occur while driving or stopped at traffic lights. It happens randomly but not often. The headlights happen everyday and is getting worse. The vehicle is becoming undrivable but no service tech can find the issue.

2006 Dodge charges with 5.7 hemi V8 - experiencing random stalling. Happens at any speed. Everything shuts off including the power steering and ABS. First happened while merging onto freeway and I had to drive off the road to avoid a semi-truck. This happened with my young child in the vehicle. I had the gas tank, fuel canister, and purge valve replaced. The problem still occurs regardless of the amount of gas in the vehicle and regardless of when it was refueled. Even though this appears to be a common problem the dealership has been no help and even tried charging me for unnecessary diagnostics. Car does not flash a code so after replacing what was supposed to fix the issue, driving the vehicle is the only way to find out if it is fixed. This has lead to a few dangerous close calls. Please look into this issue before people get hurt because this is a serious problem. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
