Every time the vehicle gas tank is filled, the engine stalls shortly after driving away. It requires several cranks of the engine to get started again. After the engine is restarted, driving /idle is rough for some amount of time before returning to normal. This happens all the time. This is very dangerous as the car stalls on me in traffic and merging on to the freeway after filling up at any gas station.

Overheated and blew the top radiator hose, fixed it with an oem hose from dealership next day and I topped of the fluid and " burped" it and got all the bubbles out. Same day it was fixed I was in a drive thru line at a fast food place and it was still overheating even with my heater turned all the way up to relieve some heat stress from the motor so I had to keep shutting off the car and restarting it to move up in the drive thru line just so the gauge never reached the red line on the temp gauge and I finally received my food and then it did not want to start or anything so due to the fact of common courtesy of the other customers in line did not want to hold them up I jumped out and pushed my car out of the way and into a parking spot and that's when the injury happened by pushing it I injured my back severely. After it was in a parking spot I tried once again to start it and it started but with a loud knock coming from the motor, and black and white smoke from the tailpipes. So I had it towed to my house and had my friend whom is a mechanic at the local Dodge dealership come over and look into it for me just to find out a valve seat dropped and damage the internals on my motor. This is a well known problem now with Dodge with many complaints around the world so why the heck isn't this problem being recalled"??" just so anyone who reads this knows, my car is a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T 5.7L hemi with only 110,000 miles on it and dealership maintained so this kinda stuff wouldn't happen but what do you know good ol Dodge screwing there customers by not fixing the problem. First and last Dodge product I will ever own!!!

The car suddenly stalled and engine turned off. The steering was locked and was unable to move. I was turning into my subdivision when suddenly this happened. I was probably around 5 mph. Luckily there was no car behind me. I was able to put the car in park and start it and drive home without issue. The second time it got stalled when the same day I had to take my son to one of his class. When I was stopped at the light, the car stalled. This time it took few tries to get the car started. Once it started, the RPM was fluctuating as if it was starving for fuel. Since other complains have references to this happening after filling up gas, I want to mentioned that I had filled the gas the day before and I must have drove 20 or so miles before this happened first time.

I have a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T with a 5.7 hemi. On several occasions, the engine has stalled when I was stopped at a stoplight. The car was in drive and stopped with my foot on the brake. After putting in into park, it would take several tries to get the engine started again. It also stalled once while coasting into my driveway. I was traveling at less than 5 mph with my foot on the brake. Again it was hard to restart.

I have had this issue happen about five times. After filling up my car with gas (I do not overfill), I notice that my car will all of the sudden turn off. This has happened in the middle of an intersection and on the highway. I feel very anxious and scared when I drive now because of this issue. After discovering online that many other 2006 Dodge Chargers have experienced the same issue, I am hoping there is an honest solution out there. Chrysler/Dodge have not responded to any of my correspondence, with the exception of an automated response. From here on out, I will be forced to only fill my car with half a tank of gas. Please advise if any other information/description is needed. Hope to see some action soon. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Vehicle began to misfire and then stalled approximately 1/4 mile after filling fuel tank. This has happened multiple times and is occurring more frequently. This is a serious safety issue since vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection and almost caused an accident. Was able to restart the car and continue to destination. Online forums attribute the cause to a faulty vapor purge valve/evap canister and requires fuel tank replacement.

Vehicle stalls and kills after refueling. It happens before even leaving the pump and/or once driving has started. It takes a few miles or some time before it's normal again. If it's sitting idle, you can hear it struggling before a burst in RPM's leading to a stall. Sometimes it starts right back up. Sometimes it doesn't for a while.

Car stalls and cuts off after refueling. I always put 89 octane or higher gasoline in my vehicle. This is a severe safety issue because you can get rammed from behind when in traffic I.e. Washington, DC area the busiest streets in America. The dealer suggested the consumer spend $1800 to replace the fuel tank. Updated 02/06/14

After refueling the vehicle, the vehicle stalls and will sometimes die. It will continue to stall off and on for approximately 2 miles and the engine has the tendency to completely die while slowing down for red lights or stop signs. This has only happened after refueling and happens every time.

After re-fueling at a local gas station I came to a stop at a traffic signal light. When the light turned green the car stalled. I placed the car in park and it restarted. This also occurred several months ago and I experienced the same scenario each time after re-fueling my vehicle.

Initially, after refueling my vehicle (2006 Dodge Charger R/T with 5.7L hemi) at a gas station, the engine would hesitate and stumble a mile or so later, and operate normally after a few moments. However, beginning within the last month, whenever I refuel at the gas station, the engine will hesitate and then stall.the obd does not illuminate the mil or register a dtc. The engine is then hard to restart, and once restarted and the transmission in drive, the vehicle will not begin to move immediately upon pressing on the accelerator, as if the transmission is in park or neutral. The stalling happens when pulling out of the gas station, when stopped and idling, and has happened when driving in traffic. This problem has resulted in several near collisions as the unexpected loss of power happens when pulling into traffic and while driving. This condition continues for several minutes and miles. I have gotten into the practice of refueling and driving straight home to park the car overnight, as it seems to drive better given time to sit after refueling.

1st incident: On October 4, 2013, my car stalled coming to a stop at a red light less than an 1/8th of a mile after leaving a gas station after a fill up. After 3 attempts to start engine, it started up. 1/2 a mile away, the engine dies at the next red light stop. 3-4 attempts to start car, it started. Car ran rough/sputtered on my way to my house 1.5 miles away. 2nd incident: On January 10, 2014, my car stalled coming to a stop at a red light 1 mile away from a gas station after filling up. After 4 attempts to start car, the engine fired up. Car ran rough/sputtered for next 2-3 miles.

My car stalled less than 1 mile after pulling out of a gas station after filling up with gas. It took several tries to restart before successfully able to drive again. I thought bad gas. But it now happens every time after I fill my tank full of gas. My car's rpms will sputter for the first couple miles after filling up with gas. It also stalls every time driving within the first 2 miles of filling up with gas. It is very scary driving with my family in the car and fearing that my car will stall in the middle of an intersection and cause a major accident. There is no check engine light or diagnostic codes for this. Just the oil light comes on and the engine dies, power steering fails, and ABS are not working.

  • 43,000 miles
On or about 03 October 2013, the engine (5.7L hemi) stalled going at 30-35 mph. The engine service light came on, but disappeared when I restarted the engine. Since that day, I have experienced multiple engine stall incidents (about 10 times) usually at a traffic stop being idle or approaching a stop, and during reverse. In November, while cruising on a highway, the engine acted as if to stall again with all the lights and chiming on the evic on and off, but did not stall probably due to the momentum or inertia. At that time, I had my entire family (size of four) with me in the vehicle and feared for their safety. I went to multiple Chrysler dealers and service centers, but could not prevent the problem from reoccuring again. It appears from my online research and reading other complaints on NHTSA website that the symptoms I am experiencing are probably consistent with the faulty sensor in the fuel tank.
