ABS & Brake light is on all the time. I have repeatedly checked shoes and pads. shudders a little when brakes are applied. Calipers have had oversized bolts installed due to originals wont hold. Passes NYS inspection even with the ABS & brake lights on.

ABS and BRAKE light come on after about 1-2 miles of driving. Speedometer works fine but Cruise control does not engage. Checked trouble codes and got P1687 No MIC bus message no CCD. I have heard that it might be the VSS. But I have also heard otherwise. Not sure what to do.

problem #1

2006Feb 21

(reported on)

Dakota 4WD

  • 60,000 miles

ABS and Brake light started staying on at startup. Happened intermittently at first and gradually happened more frequently until they were both on all the time. Eventually, truck would stall at stops and around corners. Speedometer would not work until around the time doors automatically locked (20-25mph). Shop replaced speed sensor. Problem resolved for 30 days. Same thing starting all over again.
